The State of Delaware is beginning to resemble (OK, beginning is an understatement) the pathetic girl who wastes the entire night waiting by the phone for some loser of a guy to call her back (yes, I realize that I am dating myself by that statement because cellphones have probably removed the need to wait at home by the phone).
Why do I make such a statement? Because that is how our “Senior Senator” is treating us. He takes us for granted. He rarely visits us. He thinks that we are so hooked on him, that we will mindlessly vote for him, despite his apathy/disdain for us. In other words, the State is like that pathetic female, waiting by the phone, willing to take whatever scraps are thrown our way.
An article, titled Biden Waging Stealth Re-Election Campaign, describes the situation.
“The campaign signs indicate that the candidate is from Delaware, but they don’t give a clue what office he is seeking.
“The candidate himself has refused to debate his opponent or appear before the voters he hopes will re-elect him, instead sending surrogates to read canned statements on his behalf at candidate forums.
“Despite his stealth tactics, “Delaware’s Joe Biden” is expected to easily win re-election Tuesday to a seventh term in the Senate — which he would have to resign in short order if he and Barack Obama [spit] win the presidential sweepstakes.”
Biden has completely shut out his Republican opponent, Christine O’Donnell, by not even showing up. He has refused to debate her. She doesn’t even get a chance to express her opinion, because he is a complete no-show for any possible debate.
“Biden’s absence from the Senate campaign has affected O’Donnell’s own political activities. She was refused permission to speak as a candidate at a League of Women Voters forum last week because league rules state that if both candidates don’t appear, neither can participate.”
OK, let me get this one straight, the FEMALE candidate was refused permission to speak at the League of Women Voters forum because her MALE opponent didn’t deem the function important enough to grace it with his presence. Shouldn’t the League of Women Voters, of all groups, see the need to give Christine O’Donnell a voice, if not their votes?
While getting plenty of face time across the country campaigning for vice president, Biden has been virtually invisible as a Senate candidate since late August, when Obama [spit] tapped him as his running mate.
Appearing at the Delaware Democratic Party’s annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner this month, Biden reminded Democrats in a brief aside that he was seeking re-election to the Senate, then launched into a speech contrasting himself and Obama [spit] with the Republican presidential ticket of John McCain and Sarah Palin.
Similarly on Friday at the University of Delaware, his alma mater, Biden urged a crowd of 1,500 to head north and help him and Obama [spit] win the presidential contest in Pennsylvania, where both campaigns are still working hard.
As a Senate candidate, he has failed to attend any of the forums held by civic groups across Delaware for candidates for statewide office.
Biden should make a choice. Either run for VP or run for Senate. Whichever. Clear the way for people who actually want the job.
“He’s blowing off the people of Delaware,” said Biden’s Republican opponent, Christine O’Donnell….The only information voters attending the forums get about Biden, 65, comes in prepared statements read by surrogates, usually either Biden’s campaign manager and niece, Missy Owens, or campaign spokesman Alexander Snyder-Mackler. They do not answer questions.”
Ms. O’Donnell hit the mark when she said: “Essentially, they’ll [Delaware voters] be voting for a question mark. You have no idea who you’re voting for if you’re voting for Joe Biden in the U.S. Senate race. … We should not have a hand-picked appointee serving in the U.S. Senate.”
Wake up Delaware. Stop waiting by the phone for your guy to call. Show some backbone. Show that you shouldn’t be taken for granted. Vote for someone who actually thinks that you are important enough to try to get your vote. If he can’t pay attention to you now, when he wants your vote, why would you think that he would suddenly decide that you are important once in office (again)? WHY BUY THE MILK, WHEN YOU GET THE COW FOR FREE?

What is happening on the video? A parent takes his child to someone else’s yard. He instructs the kid what to do. The kid then trespasses onto his neighbor’s yard. He is carrying an Obama [spit] sign. He walks up to the McCain sign to “fix” it (presumably with his Obama [spit] sign) and gets the shock of his life. Hee, hee. The neighbor had “booby trapped” the sign with an electric fence hook up.
Charges are not going to be filed. But, from what I heard this morning, the parents of the kid intend to sue. Seems to me that the kid learned a valuable life lesson, with very little pain. (maybe the parents should actually reward the neighbor for doing the “parenting” that they obviously are refusing to do) Lessons learned: Don’t trespass on your neighbor’s property. Don’t vandalize your neighbors things. There could be consequences to your wrong choices.
But, in this weird, flip-flop world that we live in, the lesson the kid is now learning is different. 1) you are not responsible for your own actions, 2) it is always someone else’s fault, 3) sue, and 4) even when your parent directs you to break the law, your parent isn’t at fault,.

Breaking on the Drudge Report:

“PURGE: SKEPTICAL REPORTERS TOSSED OFF OBAMA PLANE
Fri Oct 31 2008 08:39:55 ET
NY POST, DALLAS MORNING NEWS, WASHINGTON TIMES TOLD TO GET OUT… ALL 3 ENDORSED MCCAIN
**Exclusive**
The Obama [spit] campaign has decided to heave out three newspapers from its plane for the final days of its blitz across battleground states — and all three endorsed Sen. John McCain for president!
The NY POST, WASHINGTON TIMES and DALLAS MORNING NEWS have all been told to move out by Sunday to make room for network bigwigs — and possibly for the inclusion of reporters from two black magazines, ESSENCE and JET, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
Despite pleas from top editors of the three newspapers that have covered the campaign for months at extraordinary cost, the Obama [spit] campaign says their reporters — and possibly others — will have to vacate their coveted seats so more power players can document the final days of Sen. Barack Obama’s historic campaign to become the first black American president.
MORE
Some told the DRUDGE REPORT that the reporters are being ousted to bring on documentary film-makers to record the final days; others expect to see on board more sympathetic members of the media, including the NY TIMES’ Maureen Dowd, who once complained that she was barred from McCain’s Straight Talk Express airplane.
After a week of quiet but desperate behind-the-scenes negotiations, the reporters of the three papers heard last night that they were definitely off for the final swing. They are already planning how to cover the final days by flying commercial or driving from event to event.

Chilling - there is no room for the non-converts. Tie this in with the treatment of Joe the Plumber. If you dare question the messiah, there will be repercussions. If it is like this BEFORE the election, imagine how much worse it could get if the Democrats control everything. “Fairness Doctrine”, “Spread the Wealth”, the Global Poverty Act, and the “Second Bill of Rights” to name a few things….
UPDATE: Michelle Malkin just put more info and links on her site.

Why am I beginning to see some “voter registration drives” in light of a Monty Python clip?
Remember, Florida is one of the states with “Early Voting”. Bringing the meaning of “vote early, vote often” to a whole new level.

Tito the Builder “gives a piece of his mind to the media”.
And then he takes on Alan Colmes.
Listening to Tito, he understands his bill of rights. He clearly understands the responsibility that media has to accurately report on the candidates.
“Media is hiding a lot of this information that we are supposed to know, is dangerous for our Constitution, how are we supposed to know everything that this man is about….” - Tito the Builder.
Watch the video. It is great.
“They want to keep you on the bottom, they want to stay on the top.” Tito the Builder.
Let’s hope that Tito will be able to withstand the character attacks and investigations that are surely on the way.

As a review, let us get back to the beginning. Joe was outside, playing ball with his kid. Obama [spit] (and camera crew in tow) approached Joe. Joe asked a question. He did not attack Obama [spit]. He did not berate or accuse Obama [spit]. He asked a question. Nicely. And “redistribution of wealth” slipped out of the messiah’s mouth. Ooooppps. (Obama [spit] has since confirmed that he really believes in redistribution of wealth. And in his 2001 interview, he somehow ties redistribution of wealth with slave reparations)
And since this time, Joe has been investigated by the media more thoroughly than a certain media darling presidential candidate.
Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, disclosed today that computer inquiries on Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher were not restricted to a child-support system.
The agency also checked Wurzelbacher in its computer systems to determine whether he was receiving welfare assistance or owed unemployment compensation taxes, she wrote.
This sets a frightening precedent. Obama [spit] isn’t even president. Yet, if you dare to question him, your entire life could be laid open to the public. What treatment can you expect if (please, please, please don’t let this happen) Obama [spit] becomes president? What will happen to people if they dare question President Obamamessiah?

Ok.. bizarre Vietnam would ban small chested, short-stature, lightweight women like this, from driving… but are there any women in Vietnam who are bigger than this? But reading the description.. the sizing sounds like a child not an adult.. 28” chest, 4’8” or under and 88 lbs.. wow!
HANOI, Vietnam (AP) — Faced with mounting public criticism, Vietnam’s Health Ministry suspended a widely ridiculed plan to ban short, thin and small-chested drivers.
The ministry had recommended that people whose chests measure less than 28 inches be prohibited from driving motorbikes - as well as those who are too short (less than 4 -foot-8) or too thin (less than 88 pounds).

Of course you would have to pay me to take a Richard Simmon’s anything.. but this story is cute!
The best bargain at the Salvation Army thrift store in Kailua-Kona was a Richard Simmons videotape. But Mikela Mercier, 11, decided to pass up the chance to buy the tape for a few coins after she found a surprise inside: $1,000 in $100 bills.
My mother was a die-hard fan of Simmons.. and I was dragged to some event he did near where we lived, when I was a kid… we met him, he is an ass… really an ass. So the low opinion I already had was set to a new standard!

Yes, it can be done.
You too can get past the original boot problems because of problems detecting the virtual environment in Ubuntu.
How?
I’m not going to go through the whole process, just try to get you past the initial install problem.
On the Install Ubuntu screen, where you have the F1-F6 prompts at the bottom, hit F4 and then select "Safe Graphics Mode". Then hit F6, and you’ll see the command line for the install. Delete quiet splash and add vga=791 noreplace-paravirt at the end. Then follow the normal install procedure.
Once installed, you’ll need to edit the grub boot loader. Enter sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst and find the section for the boot options. You’re most likely looking for the first Ubuntu 8.10, kernel … line. the kernel option has a list of arguments like ro xforcevesa, etc. Make sure the end of that line has: ro xforcevesa noreplace-paravirt quiet splash like so.
Now you’re pretty well set except for… screen resolution. What you’ll need to do is sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and make it look like this:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Configured Video Device"
Driver "vesa"
Option "UseFBDev" "true"
EndSectionSection "Monitor"
Identifier "Configured Monitor"
Option "DPMS"
HorizSync 30-70
VertRefresh 50-160
EndSectionSection "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"
Monitor "Configured Monitor"
Device "Configured Video Device"
DefaultDepth 16
SubSection "Display"
Depth 16
Modes "1280×1024" "1024×768" "800×600"
EndSubSection
EndSection
Reboot, and you should be all set at this point.
I found the process over at Tech Republic. Additional info is there on attempts to modify the display options and such, even though the instructions are for Hardy Heron 8.04. You know, I wrote for Tech Republic, back in 1999 when they still were done in print rather than online. Too bad they don’t have that old content online anymore. Here’s a copy of what was printed.

Florida students go on a school sponsored field trip to the voting booth.
Several Florida school are filling their school buses, and taking their 18 year old students to the booths. This, despite the fact that schools are closed on Election Day, so the kids would have all day to vote, if they so chose.
And, I’ll admit, I don’t “get” this early voting thing. I thought that we were supposed to vote on Election Day. In fact, Article 2, Section 1.4 states:
“Congress sets a national Election Day. Currently, Electors are chosen on the Tuesday following the first Monday in November, in the year before the President’s term is to expire. The Electors cast their votes on the Monday following the second Wednesday in December of that same year. Thereafter, the votes are opened and counted by the Vice President, as President of the Senate, in a joint session of Congress.”
If we are all supposed to vote on the same day, why some polls been open for weeks? I understand the need for absentee ballots. But, weeks worth of voting seem to stretch the line of credibility to its breaking point.

Delaware is put in an interesting position this election. One of our Senators is actually running for two positions. I guess he is unable to decide which he would prefer.
Unfortunately, Delaware must accept the blame for Biden. For some reason, they elected him. And for some reason, they have repeated that mistake since 1972.
The Republican Party doesn’t really exist in Delaware anymore. Which is unfortunate, because Delaware seems to prosper under a Republican administration. We haven’t had one since the 80’s, and our job prospects here are looking bleak. In the past, the “big employers” were DuPont, followed by MBNA. When I was a kid, my dad was the only dad on the street who did not work for DuPont. Now, I don’t know anyone who does. Same with MBNA. It was formed here. It’s headquarters was here. Now, it no longer exists, bought out by some other bank, with most of its DE jobs lost. Chrysler is closing by the end of this year. GM has all but shut down. Even Avon is going. The State itself is now the largest employer in the state (scary and sad).
So, I couldn’t help but to laugh when I saw the following editorial (name withheld to protect the stupid):
“I am writing to help Delawareans understand the dire need to vote for Joe Biden
twice. He is running somewhat nominally to retain his seat in the U.S. Senate, as a backstop against the frightening possibility he will not be the next vice president.
His Republican opponent in the Senate race, Christine O’Donnell, is ultra-conservative and holds the wrong view on every issue she’s discussed. She mentions God as often as Rudy Giulani mentioned 9/11. She makes much of the fact that when Biden becomes vice president, the U.S. senator from Delaware will be appointed either by Gov. Minner or her successor, likely Democrat Jack Markell.
Any appointment they might make will serve the state and nation better than O’Donnell. “
I can’t help scratching my head over the koolaid drinking mentality here. They are perfectly willing to vote for an empty chair, as long as it has a (D) on it. Biden clearly does not want to be Senator any longer. He hasn’t campaigned here. He expects that DE will vote for him, again, despite his complete ambivalence to us this cycle (I’ve heard more about his “hometown” of Scanton, PA, than of his DE connection). Why hand your vote over to a failed governor, or possibly her successor? Why not vote for the person who actually wants the job (and doesn’t just see it as his fall-back plan)? Biden has earmarked his Senate seat for his son (affectionately and/or laughingly referred to a “Baby Biden” in DE). I thought that we did away with hereditary government positions with the American Revolution.

This ticks me off.. makes me sick.. and this jerk SHOULD be Arrested for threatening a presidential & vice presidential candidate! BUT because they were republican candidates it is all in fun????
A California Moron displays hate in his yard.. claims it is Halloween “fun”! He admits if the same was done to a figure of Obama [spit] “would not go over as well”… since a hanged black man would be more “intense” than a hanged white woman.
This is not a “scary” display.. this is not humorous.. this is disturbing, sick, and nasty. And it was not just a display of a hanged person, but a vice presidential candidate.. plus a hateful depiction of a presidential candidate. Did this person display similar of the democratic candidates.. no just the republican.. and claiming it is scary Halloween decor.. this idiot should be locked up.
If the same or similar were done of Obama [spit] he would have.. heck if you utter something remotely negative or ponder something against Obama [spit].. there is a major freak out. But if something is done against McCain or Palin it is in jest? Think back to the threats made to McCain they were blown off.. yet some one said someone else said they wanted to do harm to Obama [spit] and that person was arrested. It is not just media bias,it is legal bias too! what the heck!?
This jerk should be arrested for threatening a presidential candidate.. I certainly see it as a threat.. and again if the same were done to Obama [spit].. it would be taken as a threat!

I don’t hit Michelle Malkin’s site enough.. I think I would be in perpetual pain from laughing or screaming from the human stupidity she finds (I know not a huge feat to find stupidity out there, but ooh she gets some of the best stuff.. thank you Michelle!).
I found a goodie on her site talking about one of my HUGE peeves about this election.. the whiny folks out there screaming racism at everything.. things that simply do not even relate.. heck kill a mosquito they would scream racism.. it just amazes me how they don’t start laughing when they pull that crap?
For months, the Obamedia has detected racist “code” in every utterance, gesture, and wardrobe choice of conservatives and Republicans who have dared to oppose The One. Community organizer = racist. Wearing white = racist. Criticizing ACORN = racist. “That one” = racist. Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
It’s time to flip the script and use a decoder ring on Obama’s words. Today in Ohio, the Spreader of Wealth will deliver his “closing argument.” His vow: To “restore” a “higher purpose.”
I loved the image they had too.. boy does this capture Obama [spit] in all his socialist glory..
Since we have all heard, intentional or not, the typical canned verbiage that Obama [spit] has spewed.. I am just going to capture the gems Michelle wrote..
“Change We Need” = Less change in your pocket.
“New politics” = old, failed redistributionist politics.
“Obligations…to…one another” = From each according to his ability…
“A role to play” = You pay.
“Higher purpose” = “Reparative economic work” and “redistributive change.”
Is the message getting through yet?
Michelle Malkin » Obama’s “higher purpose” = code for wealth redistribution
May the food be with you.
