Darling of Advocates Everywhere

in the late afternoon on Thursday, the 31st of July 2008 by Chad

Google must come to realize that a business model based on nothing *but* advertising can be nothing *but* evil.

Google seems to believe you do not have the right to privacy.  But this is the do-no-evil company.  So many people tell me that constantly.

Common Sense

mid-morning on Thursday, the 31st of July 2008 by Chad

Any manager who spouts out "The customer is always right" is a manager you want to get away from quickly.

Why?

  1. It makes employees unhappy
  2. It gives abrasive customers an unfair advantage
  3. Some customers are bad for business
  4. It results in worse customer service
  5. Some customers are just plain wrong

More analysis as to why this is just a bad saying over here.

Possibilities of The Impossible

in the early evening on Wednesday, the 30th of July 2008 by Chad

In 1712, a mysterious stranger stepped into the quiet town of Gera, Germany. The man brought a peculiar machine: a thick wooden wheel, about three feet in diameter, covered in an oiled leather blanket. Through the wrapping emerged a massive axle on which a strong rope was wound. The stranger invited the town’s people to watch the greatest wonder they have ever seen. The man’s name was Orffyreus, and the machine he introduced marked the beginning of one of science’s most fascinating stories.

The story of a perpetual motion machine.  Hard to believe, but many of the top scientific minds of the time were baffled.

Remember: This is not a true zero gravity perpetual motion machine that works in a vacuum.  This device merely has to take more energy from it’s environment (gravity, heat, etc) than it expends to keep turning.

Teen Birth Rate and Homicides Are Up

in the early evening on Wednesday, the 30th of July 2008 by Tina

Well this ties in nicely with my previous posts on the media/Hollywood glorifying babies and teen pregnancies! ARGH!

And this is even worse for kids in foster care. Like these kids need more issues in their lives… add a kid to that scenario!

The “upside” they note.. few 8th graders are smoking. Oh gee that is just a sigh of relief huh? But unchanged for 10-12th graders… of course those will be smoking (drinking & drug using) teen-mothers eh?

Add more joy to this.. increase in teens in violent crimes & homicides!

This is just “wonderful” news…. (note my sarcasm in this please!). I am utterly disgusted by this. How on earth are teens involved in more violence, more drugs, more drinking, and more pregnancies!?

According to a new government report, the number of teens giving birth has risen for the first time in 15 years. For every one thousand young women, between the ages of 15 and 17, twenty-two will give birth.

Welcome the Republican Party

in the early evening on Tuesday, the 29th of July 2008 by Tina

Smart Kid

I was talking to this little girl Catherine, the daughter of some friends, and she said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there with us - and I asked Catherine - “If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?”

Catherine replied - “I would give money for food to all the homeless people.”

“Wow - what a worthy goal you have there, Catherine.” I said, “You don’t have to wait until you’re President to do that, you can come over to my house and clean up all the dog poop in the back yard and get paid $5 dollars. Then we can go over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $5 dollars to use for food.”

Catherine (who was about 4) thought that over for a second, while her mom looked at me seething, and Catherine replied, “Why doesn’t the homeless guy come over and clean up the dog poop and you can just pay him the $5 dollars?”

And I said, “Welcome to the Republican Party”.

I’m Surprised It Took This Long

mid-afternoon on Tuesday, the 29th of July 2008 by Chad

Don’t let the Climate Cops get in your kids heads.

Can I be the only one more than a little disturbed by the latest campaign to be fronted by energy company npower?

Launched today with large colour ads in the Sundays, it appeals directly to children, urging them to enlist as “climate cops”, to root out “climate crimes“, and thus “save the planet”.

In a luridly-designed website, mimicking the style of “yoof” cartoons, it offers a bundle of downloads, including a pack of “climate crime cards“, urging its recruits to spy on families, friends and relatives, inviting each of them to build up a “climate crime case file” in order to help them ensure their putative criminals do not “commit those crimes again (or else)!”

So now the climate change fascists have finally gotten around to getting your children and your neighbor’s children to rat you out to the authorities.  Pretty soon the climate police in their black (fake) leather trench coats will be paying you a visit.  They’ll be whipping up a mob in front of your homes and businesses, rioting and destroying property.

It’s only because it is all about control.  Right now acts of property terror like slashing the tires on SUVs are pretty random.  I’m sure that will be changing in the next few years, where well organized groups start going out causing damage.  They’ll be ignored by police and populist politicians will point out that only the rich are affected.

Never trade your last remaining freedoms for the illusion of security.

Comments on the site show how insidious this stuff is becoming:

This is basically happening already in our US Schools. Middle School (Grades 6-8) teachers require, for a significant grade, that students document in essay or research paper how their families are “harming the earth” with certain practices at home. The lack of producing any harmful crimes in their project produces a failing grade.

The assignment conclusion requires a description how the student confronted their parents about the “earth violations”, and what they would do next if their parents did not repent and make the appropriate changes to their demands for change.

Had the McDonald’s Big and Tasty burger for lunch.

mcdltPoor substitute for the true classic, the McDLT.

In all it’s Styrofoam nuke the environment goodness.

Now that was the best burger McD ever put out.  That’s what happens when a company bows down before the altar of political correctness.

It’s hard enough for McDonalds to make a tasty burger in the first place.

Anarchy in Denver

in the early morning on Tuesday, the 29th of July 2008 by Chad

Let’s Make A Deal!

A group of anarchists says it will drop its plans to disrupt the Democratic National Convention if Denver invests a $50 million federal grant in the community rather than spend it on security.

The group Unconventional Denver wants the city to spend the $50 million intended for security for the convention on health care and other needs. If the city agrees, the anarchists say they’ll call off their protests.

Otherwise, Tim Simons says members of the group plan to "physically stand in the way of what’s going to happen." He says the group is protesting what it sees as the Democratic Party’s support of big business rather than meeting people’s basic needs.

Somehow I do not think that these guys are really anarchists.  Merely troublemakers.  But still pretty funny the mess the Democrats have gotten themselves into.  The more destruction they cause in Denver, the more they guarantee the most socialist candidate ever with a real shot for President loses.

I have been curious about the $2.99 guarantee that Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep are offering. I figured there would be a lot of small print to it, and yep there is. Anyhow for those who feel compelled to get one of these crappy vehicles this offer is good until the end of July… I wish you luck!

For Obama, Hurdles in Expanding Black Vote

in the late evening on Sunday, the 27th of July 2008 by Tina

So, sounds like there is some desperation among the Obama-mania group!

I will just hope those who have not registered in the past, will stay lazy and not register and or not vote.

Obama is a moron! When I hear him speak I am amazed people are actually supporting him. Then I remind myself… stupid masses! SIGH!

At the heart of the Obama campaign’s strategy is a national effort to increase registration and turnout among the millions of Democratic-inclined Americans who have not been voting, particularly younger people and African Americans. The push began during the primaries but expanded this month to a nationwide registration drive led by 3,000 volunteers dispatched around the country.

More on Teen Pregnancy

in the late evening on Sunday, the 27th of July 2008 by Tina

“The media doesn’t show the downside to teenagers getting pregnant,”

OK Magazine… this is one that I will make sure I never buy! Obviously they have no morals!

They made sure to quickly have Jamie Lynn Spears in their magazine when she became pregnant.. and at that time said she did not have a boyfriend! And they made sure to pay top dollar to get baby photos for a recent issue!

The magazine has Jamie Lynn’s quote “being a mom is the best feeling in the world.” GREAT…. that is a wonderful message to teen girls! Ma, errr grandma must be proud!

The rest of the article I thought was funny… “The mistake that some magazines make about the Spears is thinking they’re not a smart family”… but apparently OK Magazine finds the Spears family to be a smart family? They say Jamie Lynn learned by Britney’s example.. um yeah we see that, she is a teen mom… she really is a bright bulb in the group huh?

This quote is something I mentioned in a previous post “Babies are the new “it” factor in the celebrity market.” This IS A PROBLEM! Babies are a freaking accessory now.. they are a fashion icon, something to possess. How wrong is that? And teens, they look to celebrities.. and try to emulate them. That is scary!!

Again about this magazine.. and reading that article… they have compassion for the Spears family, and the reason I see is the profit they get from it.. not necessarily because they are  a compassionate magazine. If they were they would have more care for their readers… knowing the impact glorifying teen pregnancy can cause. Disgusts me!

Teen Pregnancy Glamorized

at around evening time on Sunday, the 27th of July 2008 by Tina

Spotted this item, and need to talk about it.

Teens and how being a teen-mom is now obviously being glamorized. Read the article… kids are really getting the wrong message! They have an out.. giving up their child, either via abortion or adoption… or if they keep it, it is a great accessory and fun! They do not see abortion or adoption as an issue, and they apparently have no idea they can catch a disease!

Tomorrow

in the early afternoon on Sunday, the 27th of July 2008 by Chad

I dread tomorrow a bit.

Nah, nothing bad happening, I just haven’t left the house in a month except for Dr. visits and twice weekly to the grocery store a mile away.

But tomorrow I am heading back to the office.  Luckily I have been able to work from home, even the hospital room over this last month.  I’ve got the right kind of job that I can do that.

Generally when I work from home I start earlier, work later, and do more total work anyway.  A few nights I was coding until dark, which is much tougher to do in the summer!

Saved a ton of dough, not having to pay about 5$ in gas daily for the round trip, and not going out to eat every day for lunch.  The savings will go a long way towards defraying our medical costs.  Last I checked, the bill was over 50k$ for all the costs for the 4 days in the hospital plus everything else since.  Our insurance has an out of pocket maximum of 2k$ which I’m sure we’ll hit, so that is all we’ll have to pay.

So tonight I turn on my alarm clock for the first time in a while.  I’ll have to get up, have breakfast, get dressed and go.  And to those that know me, yes I have been getting dressed every morning.  Sheesh.  And then I’ll drive into work, settle myself into the cubicle, and continue doing just what I’ve been doing.

Of course, my Monday isn’t quite as bad as this guys:

Disagreement

in the late evening on Saturday, the 26th of July 2008 by Chad

For your reading pleasure

In case their Plantation Bend neighbors had any questions about how Doug and Wendy McKain feel about Barack Obama, the bumper sticker on their pickup could be a clue.

But when Chynethia Gragg spotted the sticker depicting someone urinating on the name "Obama" Sugar Land police say, she stopped to express her disapproval, and that’s when things got ugly.

Gragg, 35, has been charged with making a terroristic threat after confronting the McKains, telling them the sticker was racist, police said.

So there you have it.  Anything that you display that can be construed as against Obama is of course racist.  At least this stupid bitch was thrown in the pokey for terroristic threatening, because she said she’d "send someone to get them."

The gulf

around lunchtime on Saturday, the 26th of July 2008 by Chad

I’ve noticed a pattern emerging between left and right when it comes to the recent Obama world tour.  Especially the campaign stop in Berlin.

I see on the right universal disgust and condemnation.  Sure political candidates go on foreign visits.  But there is a difference: Obama campaigned in Berlin.  Gave a speech to the masses.  Not merely meeting with foreign leaders which is pretty standard.  This was new.  Those on the right see it as further proof of the internationalization of the world, that internal politics of the United States are being unduly influenced by the goals of other countries.  This is a dangerous precedent being set.

The left on the other hand sees absolutely nothing untoward with what happened.  This is their candidate showing foreign policy mettle by going out among the world, spreading good will. And of course this is new.  This is all about change remember?

The issue is both sides are talking past each other because they have very different basic goals.

The right is concerned about the election, about the direction that these United States will be taking in the near future.  This country must do what it feels is best for this country.  Serious discussion must be had for this is a critical juncture in history.

To the left the election has nothing to do with the United States.  They’re thinking globally.  To think in merely national terms is a product of old thinking.  Progressive thought realizes that what happens in the US affects the entire world.  Many on the left lament the fact that the entire world cannot vote in the US election, and are working to try to get that changed.  It’s not that the left is proud of the fact the US leads the world.  Surely that is an accident of history.  Changing the leadership of the US to a hard left socialist is a means to an end, so as to lead the world by default.

Thus the two sides arguments can never be debated.  There is no central point of conflict that both sides agree on.  The solution is simple and I feel would be agreeable to almost everyone.

McCain gets the POTUS position.  Even with the media so dead set on an Obama win, current polls are starting to show that this is the trend anyway.

The best place for Obama is in charge of the United Nations.  That organization truly needs change.  It will be something the whole world could be proud of.
