Should the Global Carbon Tax Become a Tax Credit?

just before lunchtime on Thursday, the 28th of February 2008 by Katie

Despite the State of California’s Education Department declaring Man Made Global warming a “scientific fact”, not all people are kowtowing to the Great Global Warming God yet.

Instead of worrying about “global warming” maybe we should worry about that ice age. Historically speaking (and yes, prehistorically speaking) Earth’s average temperature has varied wildly. Even before man started his first tiny fire for his first BBQ, the Earth warmed and cooled. Earth’s ideal temperature didn’t miraculously happen in 1900, despite the allegations in Gore’s Inconvenient Farce slide show.

Temperature changes on other planets have been found to be paralleling Earth’s changes. Call me a sceptic, but I just don’t believe that Earth’s carbon output can raise Mars’ temperature. Solar activity (or lack thereof) would explain why multiple planets are experiencing similar temperature trends.

Maybe we can wake someone up in our government before they take our country into the global warming abyss. Maybe someone will wake up in Washington before we see our hard earned dollars going to some dictator’s country to plant forests. Maybe we can stop them before they economically hamstring us with the Kyoto protocol. Heck, maybe they’ll let me keep my frikkin lightbulb before I’m forced to buy those bloody corkscrewy things (there is Mercury in those things, think what that will eventually do to our water systems).

As a side note, the author of the above captioned blog is obviously an evil conservative. This is easily ascertained by his cruel use of the word Eskimo. (this is evidently a pc no-no)

Prison vs Work

in the wee hours on Tuesday, the 26th of February 2008 by Bandit

IN PRISON…you spend the majority of your time in an 8×10 cell.
AT WORK…you spend most of your time in a 6×8 cubicle.

IN PRISON…you get three meals a day.
AT WORK…you only get a break for one meal and you have to pay for it.

IN PRISON…you get time off for good behavior.
AT WORK…you get rewarded for good behavior with more work.

IN PRISON…a guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you.
AT WORK…you must carry around a security card and unlock and open all the doors yourself.

IN PRISON…you can watch TV and play games.
AT WORK…you get fired for watching TV and playing games.

IN PRISON…you get your own toilet.
AT WORK…you have to share.

IN PRISON…they allow your family and friends to visit.
AT WORK…you cannot even speak to your family and friends.

IN PRISON…all expenses are paid by taxpayers with no work required
AT WORK…you get to pay all the expenses to go to work and then they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners.

IN PRISON…you spend most of your life looking through bars from the inside wanting to get out.
AT WORK…you spend most of your time wanting to get out and go inside bars.

IN PRISON…there are wardens who are often sadistic.
AT WORK…the wardens are called managers.

It’s Now a Three Ring

in the early morning on Sunday, the 24th of February 2008 by Chad

Circus that is.  Now that Ralph Nader has entered presidential race this election coming up is going to be the perfect farce.

You have the Obamenon.  Anyone who votes for him is either an outright socialist or is too stupid to understand that he doesn’t stand for anything at all, since “change” doesn’t really mean anything.  I understand that some people are sick and tired of politics and thinking that he will be different.  The too stupid part Obama voters doesn’t realize that he is still a politician.  Then you have your blatant socialist who want the government to run every step of everyone’s lives which is a very disgusting thought for what the United States is supposed to be about.  But these folks are usually the ones that will gain power over others, so it’s actually greed that drives these folks.

Clinton spoke to the annual State of the Black Union forum Saturday .Hilary is merely a meaner, more calculating, and possibly slightly less socialistic version of Obama.  The issue is that everyone knows at least where exactly Hilary stands I think.  So I at least give Hilary voters some credit.  They’re socialists who want power but are at least smart enough to know the candidate they vote for.  They’re almost honest about it.  Except they won’t ever admit they’re socialists.

I love how the talk she is giving was sponsored in the picture shown by both McDonald’s and ExxonMobile.

Then you have McCain.  I think he’s honestly a good enough guy, but he’s pretty far left in the Republican party, that at least he has a good shot in the general election, being pretty much the only centrist.

Well, I’m not officially sick of politics this year.  And the onslaught has barely even started.  Thank God for Caller ID and TiVO.  They count as the official saviors of sanity.

Are you a Democrat, Republican or Southerner?

in the late evening on Wednesday, the 20th of February 2008 by Chad

Here is a little test that will help you decide.
The answer can be found by posing the following question:
You’re walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children.
Suddenly, an Islamic Terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, praises Allah, raises the knife, and charges at you. You are carrying a Glock cal 40, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do?
…………..
Democrat’s Answer
Well, that’s not enough information to answer the question!
Does the man look poor! Or oppressed?
Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?
Could we run away?
What does my wife think?
What about the kids?
What does the law say about this situation?
Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?
Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?
Should I call 9-1-1 ?
Why is this street so deserted?
We need to raise taxes, have paint and weed day and make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior.
……………. ………
Republican’s Answer
BANG!
……………………
Southerner’s Answer
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

World’s Worst Poster Child

in the late afternoon on Wednesday, the 13th of February 2008 by Katie

In the news last week was the “tragic” story of a young, teenaged waitress. Poor girl, she worked two jobs, fast food and bar waitress. The headlines read:

Smoky bar triggered fatal asthma attack
First case of secondhand smoke causing an immediate death, study says

Sad. So sad. And she is obviously going to be the rallying cry for anti-smoking advocates everywhere.

So, why am I cruelly mocking her? It is what the headlines fail to mention, but is buried deeper in the article. The girl has had asthma since she was two. It was classified as a severe case of asthma and within the past year she had gone to the ER more than four times for treatment. Plus, despite the fact that she had numerous asthma medications, she failed to regularly take them. And, on the night of her demise, she did not bring her inhaler…

Now, an evil conservative might dare to point out that she failed to take numerous steps that could have saved her life. Than in effect, she is the one that is responsible for her death. One, if you have serious asthma, a smoking bar might not be the ideal working environment (OK, shut up you libs, I have to believe that she could have gotten a job somewhere other than a smoky bar, say some fru fru coffee joint that serves burnt lattes); Two, she could have taken the gosh darn medications that she was prescribed; Three, she could have brought an inhaler for emergencies (isn’t that what they are made for). I could go on, but some anti-smoking nazi is now probably going to try to track me down as if I was a Danish cartoonist….

Well, I’m done ranting now. I’m going to go cry in my beer. Doesn’t anyone else in this country realize that Obama has been voted THE MOST LIBERAL SENATOR in the entire Senate? That he is so lib that he makes Kennedy, Reid, and (egad) Clinton look like conservatives? Yes, I realize I’m completely off topic now…. Matt knew I couldn’t keep politics out of this..

Berkeley vs the Marines

in the early morning on Wednesday, the 13th of February 2008 by Chad

Berkeley City Council Retreats From Anti-Marines Offensive, Voices Support for Troops

BERKELEY, Calif. —  City councilmembers who were heavily criticized for telling Marine recruiters they don’t belong here have moderated their position, saying they oppose the war in Iraq but support the troops.

Does anyone doubt the following statements I make:

  • Berkeley city council members do not support the troops.
  • Berkeley city council members are lying now.
  • Berkeley city council members are only changing their tune because of the threat of loss of federal funds and the bad publicity that they have received.

Yeah, it’s all about the $$.  Cowards.  At least their original stance was what they really thought.

First Day on a New Job

around lunchtime on Tuesday, the 12th of February 2008 by Chad

You know the tone of the job is set when you try to walk into your new office and it is sealed with crime tape.

“Corruption had gone to an extreme,” McDonough said, saying it all began at the top. “They seemed to be drunk half the time and had orgies the other half, when they weren’t taking money and beating each other up.”

He added, “Women were treated like chattel in this department.”

McDonough described a bizarre prison culture among those that ran the system — one that he says seemed obsessed with inter-department softball games and the orgies after games.

This is what happens without civilian citizen oversight of the government.

More on Climate Fraud

around lunchtime on Monday, the 11th of February 2008 by Chad

Antarctic Ice Shelf Collapse Blamed On More Than Climate Change

Ice shelf collapse is not as simple as we first thought,” said Professor Glasser, lead author of the paper. Because large amounts of meltwater appeared on the ice shelf just before it collapsed, we had always assumed that air temperature increases were to blame. But our new study shows that ice-shelf break up is not controlled simply by climate. A number of other atmospheric, oceanic and glaciological factors are involved. For example, the location and spacing of fractures on the ice shelf such as crevasses and rifts are very important too because they determine how strong or weak the ice shelf is”.

Suddenly all the people who point at something that happens and shrilly proclaim “Global Warming” have one less leg to stand on.  Another thing that annoyed the hell out of me was the supposed debunking of the solar cause of climate change.  First off, they claim that solar radiation had dropped recently when I just read something from the Max Planck Institute that said the opposite.  And finally, the pro- argument is not that the Sun is causing climate change.  That the other planets near us are experiencing overall warming IS the argument.  So even if they did prove that solar radiation has gone down that means… bubkis.  They need to prove why other planets warming from whatever source has nothing to do with terrestrial global warming.

Equality Rant!

in the early morning on Monday, the 4th of February 2008 by Chad

I can’t believe it. Some hundred plus years after suffrage, forty years after hardcore feminism, thirty years since the ERA amendment was attempted, there is still the most horrible inequality that exists. Not the bogus pay inequality “issue” or some of the others. But something that affects everyone several times a day.

Restrooms.

Here’s your typical men’s bathroom. It was taken in a 5 star rated hotel. We weren’t rich enough to actually be able to use this bathroom, it was roped off to us lower upper class folks and the bouncer only let us take a picture.

Can you believe the second class feeling that us men get?

Technology :: Networks

in the early morning on Friday, the 1st of February 2008 by Chad

The LAN turns 30, but will it reach 40?

For Ethernet, its designers considered token passing too slow and fragile, Metcalfe said. “We wanted everything to be passive and simple,” he explained. “The token-passing people — and that included IBM Token Ring — said they were deterministic, since you knew the token would be passed around in a certain amount of time. But if you counted the processes that had to be undertaken if the token was lost, it was a lie. I know that sounds nasty, but for 10 years I had to put up with that crap from the IBM Token Ring people — you bet I’m bitter.

Token Ring was horrible.  Token Ring was the perfect example of where theory ran straight smack into the heavy brick wall of reality and lost big time.

How many hours have I myself wasted on troubleshooting Token Ring networks when a single node was beaconing?  Typically hours.  Removing one segment of the network at a time until finally determining which workstation was configured wrong.  IBM should stick to the mainframes and leave everything else alone.
