MSN has to get over this

in the early morning on Wednesday, the 7th of March 2007 by Chad

By this I mean the washed up, no one listens to anymore Dixie Chicks.

At least once, twice a week, on the MSN home page, there is a Dixie Chicks article.

dixchicks.jpg

You almost never see any other band listed.  So, either this is just some giant left wing conspiracy to make everyone think the Dixie Chicks are still popular before the verbal diarrhea inflicted them, or else someone on the MSN editorial staff is just hoping to get a foursome.

Yea! Capitalism!

mid-afternoon on Tuesday, the 6th of March 2007 by Chad

There’s a market for ANYTHING!

For 35 Australian dollars (about 27 U.S. dollars), customers of Sydney-based Easy Being Green can offset a year’s worth of carbon emissions linked to their dogs, from trips to the vet to, yes, breaking wind.

Of course, certain breeds are gassier than others.  And the bill for a certain co-worker of mine will run about 18k$ a year.

China raps Japan over sex slaves

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing says Japan should face up to history and take responsibility for its army’s use of sex slaves during World War II.He was speaking after Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe caused controversy last week by questioning whether women were “coerced” into sexual slavery.

Mr Abe has said Japan will not go beyond a 1993 apology on the issue.

Many historians say Japan compelled up to 200,000 women, mostly Chinese and Korean, to become sex slaves.

Not to minimize what Japan did in WWII, but I do believe the current murder count of the communist regime in China is much higher. Lets put all the governments in perspective:

Just consider that alone 61,911,000 people were murdered by the Soviet Union, 38,702,000 by the Chinese communists, 10,214,000 by the Chinese Nationalists, 17,000,000 by the German Nazis, and 5,890,000 by the Japanese militarists during World War II.

Dean’s World Self Destruct?

mid-morning on Tuesday, the 6th of March 2007 by Chad

Dean Esmay over at Dean’s World has recently drawn the line in the sand over anti-islamic posts and comments.   It’s his blog and his content, but he’s lost several posters, including his wife.  It’s the whole free speech vs private control of his site argument.

As it is, I’ll still read, but I have to worry about losing some of the best content over there.  As to the meat of the argument, where too many people blame all of Islam for the terrorism, I feel he’s gone too far myself.  Best explanation I can see same in a few sentences over at The Corner…

Moderate Muslims denounce terror that’s committed in the name of Islam but they deny that religion has anything to do with it,” she says. “Reform-minded Muslims denounce terror that’s committed in the name of Islam and acknowledge that our religion is used to inspire it.”

If Christians are expected to kowtow and take full blame for trying to take back lands stolen from them during the Crusades, members of Islam who do not feel that terrorism is part of Islam must not simply disown terrorism, washing their hands of it.  They need to fully denounce it.  Pronounce fatwahs against it.

If that is not what happens, then they can’t complain in the least if Israel bulldozes down the Dome of the Rock to rebuild their temple.

UCLA STUDY

in the late evening on Friday, the 2nd of March 2007 by Tina

(my friend Tom shared the following with me.. had to share it with ya’all.. enjoy!)

UCLA STUDY (very interesting and short)

A study conducted by UCLA’s Department of Psychiatry has revealed that the kind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle.

For example: If she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine features.

However, if she is menstruating or menopausal, she tends to be more attracted to a man with duct tape over his mouth and a spear lodged in his forehead while he is on fire.

No further studies are expected.

Rant

in the early morning on Thursday, the 1st of March 2007 by Katie

OK, this is my rant on why our country might soon out France France.

1) There is legislation in FL aimed at outlawing the use of the offensive term illegal alien. “ Excuse me, I’m sorry Mr. Illegal, I hope that your wittle feewings weren’t hurt by me calling you an illegal alien¦ How about I call you a criminal and lock your butt in jail???

2) There is a school in Washington State that is banning legos. It seems as though they were building a legotown, and legotown was destroyed (probably by a Bush created Hurricaine). So, now the school will teach the children that private property rights (ie, there lego house) are evil, and that community property is good. Literally a mi casa es su casa. So, now they will all build the exact same house. Gee, not that that destroys creativity or anything¦ This is just a sample of the article regarding the indoctrination

The children were allegedly incorporating into Legotown “their assumptions about ownership and the social power it conveys.” These assumptions “mirrored those of a class-based, capitalist society — a society that we teachers believe to be unjust and oppressive.”
They claimed as their role shaping the children’s “social and political understandings of ownership and economic equity … from a perspective of social justice.”
So they first explored with the children the issue of ownership. Not all of the students shared the teachers’ anathema to private property ownership. “If I buy it, I own it,” one child is quoted saying. The teachers then explored with the students concepts of fairness, equity, power, and other issues over a period of several months.
At the end of that time, Legos returned to the classroom after the children agreed to several guiding principles framed by the teachers, including that “All structures are public structures” and “All structures will be standard sizes.” The teachers quote the children:
“A house is good because it is a community house.”
“We should have equal houses. They should be standard sizes.”
“It’s important to have the same amount of power as other people over your building.”

3) The defense is now moving to let Terrorist Padilla off by stating that since Padilla refuses to talk to his own attorneys about his case, that he must be mentally unable to stand trial. So, using this logic, I can now go out and kill someone, refuse to discuss this with my attorney, and then get out of jail.

4) It seems as though Mr. Gore (Hollywood darling) might be leaving a (excuse me while I hurl) large carbon footprint. Evidently his 10,000 square foot house (one of several homes that he owns) uses just a wee bit of electricity. Gee, problem say you. Mr. Gore “ a hypocrite “ you might be thinking. But, no, we stand corrected. Evidently, Mr. Gore invests money in alternate fuel sources. So, by investing money he buys carbon credit. In other words, if you have a private jet, plant some trees, and your carbon sin will be forgiven. Now, to evil conservatives, such as myself, I think that this logic is similar to the logic that launched the Protestant Reformation. As, I recall (and please put up with me, since evil conservatives also lack intelligence) one of the main issues that the movement addressed was the sale of indulgences. Indulgences could be bought by the very rich, and once purchased, basically removed all of your sins, giving you a get out of hell free card. Now, we have modernized it to the purchasing of carbon credit.
