Crawling Darkness

mid-morning on Saturday, the 2nd of October 2004 by Chad

In an election season like this, it is always important to remember what is truly important: Fighting back the unknowable bright darkness of Cthulu and his extra-dimensional minions.
I am not sure if dealing with the creeping death is part of foreign relations, which is maybe why the debate the other night did not include any mention of it. Actually, it is probably something that will be dealt with during the vice presidential debates, since I am sure both Cheney and Edwards believe that the other is a shoggoth.
Andrew Ian Dodge has released a new book on the subject. If you are a fan of the Lovecraftian mythos, please give it a look. I’m ordering today…

Everything to Everyone

mid-morning on Friday, the 1st of October 2004 by Chad

My feelings on the debate last night. Kerry is a better debater, and a better public speaker. Duh.
However, Kerry is still promising the impossible. He says that the mere fact of him being elected will bring France, Germany. and others into Iraq. Funny, that isn’t how they feel at all. They European leaders are on the record as saying no matter who gets elected they will not enter Iraq, but Bush being President was a handy excuse. But absolutely nothing will change.
Kerry acted like a skilled fencer last night. Come at your opponent from every conceivable angle just to win. But no real substance, but the flash will help to convince a lot of people.
Finally, one thing I wish Bush would have said. Each time he talked about Kerry getting the same intelligence briefings as he did, and came to the same conclusions, he should have followed that up with reminding everyone that Kerry has an excuse. He didn’t show up for most of the intelligence briefings apparently.
