Crappy

in the late evening on Wednesday, the 6th of August 2003 by Chad

That is how my day was.

  • Got yelled at by the boss because of something he approved months ago, just because the programmers started whining about something to him. To deflect the pressure he took it out on me.
  • Then him and most of the tech ops staff left to play golf from 10am on, leaving me to handle everything.
  • Several accidents on the way home from work tripled my already too long commute.
  • Within minutes of getting home I was paged because a system at work crashed, because it always does.
  • Left the steaks on the grill too long. They were nice expensive tenderloins, too.
  • Wife is sick.
  • Only good thing all day was Jim caught me on AIM and invited me to spend lunch up at the shooting range killing paper. A few boxes of 9mm and 357 helped keep this day from being a complete loss. I left one of my targets sitting on my desk at work. At least 5 people came over and chatted about guns after seeing the target. Helped out a crappy day.
Good article on men who don’t care for gun articles over at D.C. Thornton’s blog. Essentially calls them wussies. Hmm… I tend to agree. I’ve been around guns for a long time, and they’re just like dangerous power tools. Treat them with care, and they’ll do exactly what you want them to do. They’re not going to do things on their own. I’m trying to remember the website where someone has kept a webcam on one of his guns for years. And not once has it jumped out and killed children or anything like that.
My wife likes shooting more than I do. I got “that look” when I got home and told her where I went for lunch. And she had never shot before I took her.
I’ll still leave my offer open to anyone I know to take them shooting if they’ve never shot before. I’ve done it twice, and it went extremely well both times.
That and its Wednesday night, which means South Park and Good Eats.
