D’oh!

What’s the point?

Here’s an odd piece of news. Homer Simpson has changed his name and moved to the Middle East.

Even odder, Omar Shamshoon, as he’s called, has given up bacon and beer. Bacon, we can see. But beer? Not Homer.

“The Simpsons” TV show is being broadcast in Arabic by an Arab satellite TV network. To make America’s family a little more palatable for the new audience, some changes have been made. Thus, Bart is Badr, and intoxication is gone. Instead, Omar drinks soda and his hot dogs are beef sausages. Omar no longer hangs around bars or with lowlifes. So goodbye, Moe and Barney.

This is hard to understand. How can you make the free-wheeling Simpsons totally inoffensive? Will Ned Flanders, the ever upbeat Christian neighbor, be gone as well?

What about Lisa, the uppity daughter who is forever challenging authority? If she manages to stay in the show, we see a revolution in the making.

The thing about necrophilia is you have to cross their legs before rigormortis sets in, keeps'em tighter. Okay guys, go grab some shovels outta the garage.
