The IT Professionals Association of America ITPAA
in the late evening on Friday, the 1st of August 2003 by Scott
Hello all,
Just a reminder that I could use some input/feedback on the site IT Professionals Association of America ITPAA.org. Stop on by and post at the bulletin board. Get in on the ground floor on a debate that is shaping our industry and the 2004 election as well (according to Glenn Reynolds). The site is getting traffic, but everyone is being shy about the forums.
Post something! Now! Don’t make me get your mother!
The site will soon be “featured” in an AP story by Rachel Konrad. It would be nice if it looked “lived in”.
So I will leave it up to you, the friends of the Pirate-King. Most of you are IT people with an opinion - share it at my site. Here, I’ll even make it easier for you. Press this link!.
The ITPAA is NOT anti-capitalism, anti-Globalist, or union-loving. It is a lobbying organization set up to defend the interests of American IT pros and the companies that employ them. It’s a serious mission, but it is a real bitch to start.
So come on fellow Pirates of the 7 Seas, there is booty to be had and treasure to be found here for all.

I still have a job. :-) But for the last 3 or 4 years have lived under constant threat of lay off.
I have always been the wrong gender - now I’m the wrong age.
I’m female and, therefor must be stupid. (My older software has monitored power plants with 64K of core (now called memory) and 20mb of disk. My newer software is a gateway into 2 way wireless communication).
I’m in my mid 50’s and, therefore, must be stuck in my ways and cannot move into new tech (I’ve thrived, not survived, 30 years in a “keep up or get out” business. In 2000 I earned my MS in CS. I went from FORTRAN and VAX/VMS directly to C++ and UNIX. I’ve updated tools in VC++ using Visual Studio).
I’ve seen students leave CS degree programs because the previous classes are still looking for work.
There is no brain drain. Visas and outsourcing are pulling the plug on us. Are we, as a tech dependant country, going to place our military, business, and research and development functions into the hands of people who do not have the interests of the US or our citizens as their top priority?
Our leaders need to realize it is their futures not just ours at stake.

you’ve asked for comments Re: ITPAA.ORG.
Scott Kirwin is a shameless plagarizer. Why?
He takes articles from the Indian media (Economic Times, Times of India, etc) and uses it as the main content for his site. He develops no originial ideas, or content, and has not bothered to post his resume so that interested companies may offer him gainful employment.
by his own admission, he is a poli-sci major, game warden africa, did ? in japan, then claims to be an “information technology professional”. his credentials on tech republic are blank, and he has done reviews for two computer games.
now he seeks donations from visitors to his site.
Somebody, like you should give Scott Kirwin a reality check, namely, the economy is improving, jobs are being formed, and he needs to do a job search.
as a simple test of his content, chk to see if he gets any content from american media. he does not. why? because they would sue him for copyright and trademark infringement.
thanks, thats my feedback
