Monumentally, Catastrophically, Unbelievably Stupid

around lunchtime on Sunday, the 27th of December 2009 by Capt Jake Fortune

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Sunday that the thwarting of the attempt to blow up an Amsterdam-Detroit airline flight Christmas Day demonstrated that "the system worked."
Asked by CNN’s Candy Crowley on "State of the Union" how that could be possible when the young Nigerian who has been charged with trying to set off the bomb was able to smuggle explosive liquid onto the jet, Napolitano responded: "We’re asking the same questions."
Napolitano added that there was "no suggestion that [the suspect] was improperly screened."

Wow… how do people this stupid get to the positions they hold?  She couldn’t make inspector #4 on the Fruit of the Loom line (no offense) so they put her in the government?

The system works?  So is this some magic system that remotely disables bomb components on aircraft making them only flare instead of explode?  Because surely she doesn’t mean the process for screening passengers.

Just… wow.  We’re all in serious trouble.

Ok to those who believe in our current president & his lackeys… whatcha’ think now?

This is proof positive that a barrel full of monkeys who had lobotomies would be more effective and be far more qualified. (No offense intended to the monkeys with lobotomies)

Again.. this numb nut has not even been in the white house for a year yet.. anyone have a look-back check list of all the crap we have seen from this moron & crew?

So much garbage, (Bill) Clinton is looking like a winner in comparison (& sick enough makes me “long” for those days, sigh.. and I was definitely looking forward to the end of his term). Though still tough competition remains with Carter.

It’s simple. They’re liberal Democrats, so shut up and go on about your business. If a Conservative and/or Republican had been in charge, hoo boy, there would be hell to pay. But relax, this is Demland now, no need for questions or independent thoughts.

I just saw Napolitano on Fox News. Probably the only “hard ball” interview she’s ever taken.

After repeatedly dodging one question, she finally admitted that she had not actually read the “rules” for such terrorist situations, yet.

Also, on Drudge this morning is an article about a couple on the plane. They state that they observed the terrorist before boarding the plane. The terrorist was with a well-dressed “friend”, who was trying to help the terrorist get on the plane, without a passport.

No passport? And they say that the system worked?

What hope is there of defeating an enemy, if you are not even allowed to name an enemy?

Well good ole Janet has decided today that the system did indeed fail. But only in this instance and her statement otherwise was simply taken out of context. Hmmm. I wonder what changed her mind? Perhaps she simply never gave it any thought before the interviews and just let her mouth run in self-protection mode.

See the problem here is that the current administration does not accept that there is a threat. They don’t take the ‘war on terror’ as serious. That is why the system failed. When those in charge don’t care, the followers become lackadaisical. This guy was already on a watch list. I would think that even though they can’t keep him from flying, they would subject him to the most rigorous of searches.

The system did indeed utterly fail. And the truth is that we can’t be protected from this sort of thing without either huge costs in time, technology and manpower, or loss of individual freedoms. Both of which are unacceptable.
