There are several reasons that I want Gitmo to stay open.  1) I do not want them in the US.  2) I do not want them to have the same rights that citizens have. 

Another was illustrated today.

3)  I do not want the Gitmo “detainees” to enter our prison population.

Once they enter the prison population, they will talk to the other violent criminals about the “wonders” of Jihad.

And today’s arrest clearly illustrated that I am not completely off the mark with the last reason.

Authorities: New York Terror Suspects Wanted to ‘Commit Jihad’ in Synagogue Bomb Plot

Yes, our own homegrown wannabe terrorists.  Well, three are native born, one is from Haiti (so much for the “poor” Haitian refugees).

Four men sought to wage a holy war against America when they plotted to bomb two New York City synagogues and shoot down military planes in upstate New York — and they were dismayed that a better target had already been hit, authorities said Thursday….

Kelly said he believed the men knew each other through prison. They had long rap sheets for charges including drug possession and assault….

Three of the men are converts to Islam, an official speaking on condition of anonymity told The Associated Press.

Other reports that I have read were more specific.  The men converted to Islam WHILE they were in prison.  This evidently happens quite often.  I think that it would be much, much worse if proven radical Muslim fanatics, like those in Gitmo, entered our prison population and started preaching to a violent, captive audience.  Hence, I want Gitmo to remain open for a long, long time.

Obama: Some Guantanamo prisoners to go to U.S.

President Barack Obama said on Thursday some terrorism suspects held at Guantanamo would be sent to U.S. prisons despite strong congressional opposition, as he defended his plan to close the internationally condemned detention center.

Is he bound and determined to let the jihadists win?
