GM Depression Era Stocks.

just before lunchtime on Wednesday, the 13th of May 2009 by Gypsy

In “celebration” of GM hitting depression era stock prices.. which is disturbing on too many levels.. I found the following brochure from the 1934 World’s Fair (click to see brochure) GM a Century of Progress The back cover states “An eye to the future, & an ear to the ground”… The brochure is a neat read, as they talk about the changes in technology in those first 25 years.

They made such great strides in their first quarter century, only to now look to China for survival. Those who built and managed GM a century ago must be turning in their graves!

Browsing the brochure, it is so sad to see they hit 100 years last year.. and now they are crumbling. A “Century of Progress” were they carving their own headstone, because the timing is ironic.

Shares of GM on Tuesday fell to 1933 levels before closing at $1.15 a share. The company, which is surviving on federal loans, has until June 1 to restructure its debt or face bankruptcy reorganization, like its smaller Detroit Three competitor, Chrysler.

Buffeted by bankruptcy fears,
