Logical Sense.

in the early evening on Tuesday, the 5th of May 2009 by Gypsy

The comments were perhaps better than the article.. one making a perfect point to deny “common sense” since common = the masses, and looking at the decisions (and votes) of the masses, common is not a good thing.. that commenter prefers “logical sense”.. I am with that statement!

Another person states the perfect point that the environmentalists started this march, demanding these things with out any forethought , without realizing the limits and problems of the environmental choices.

There is no energy alternative with out a sacrifice, and not one alternative can be an alternative on its own. Perhaps if used together these could reduce the current need for oil & gas, but it won’t end it.

So instead of this fight by environmentalists and politicians.. there should be some logical sense incorporated? I know novel idea, one that has been so sadly been overlooked… There does need to be some logic injected here.. and that is definitely not something we can rely on the government for (certainly not the current government).. and adding this too all the pipe dreams and destructive ideas Obama has had so far, there is no doubt his environmental ideas are destined for disaster!

Some environmentalists, who have successfully fought a wind farm on the border of Oregon and Washington, are trying to block a massive solar plant in the Mojave desert. And now an Oregon county is considering a ban on wind power in the foothills of the blue mountains.

"We all want to be as green as we can be. But at what cost?" Richard Jolly of the Blue Mountain Alliance. "To take everything from us? This valley could be surrounded by them."

Jolly says 400-foot wind turbines are a bird-killing eyesore. The developer argues the danger to birds is exaggerated but admits every big energy project has its downside.

"If we hold out for the perfect environmental silver bullet, if you will, it will always be 15 years down the road," he said. "We have to make incremental progress."

That is a great point.. incremental progress.. instead of the intended all or nothing that is being pushed.. and when such things are pushed they use no logic what-so-ever, it will end up being a disaster!

For decades, environmental groups have talked about "big oil," painting the petroleum industry as greedy and destructive. Now similar language is being applied to renewables. Instead of eco-friendly green power, increasingly it’s "big wind" and "big solar."

Ok maybe their intention is for us all to live like cave-men, though I am sure they could find fault with their lifestyle too.. they ate meat, and no doubt squandered valuable resources.

Large environmental groups, such as the Natural Resources Defense Council, bristle at the idea of dissension in the ranks.

"We are working very aggressively to make a planning process happen with utilities, with industry, with local groups all at the table," said Rick Duke, director of the Natural Resources Defense Council’s Center for Market Innovation.

The following is one of the few times I have heard an intelligent statement referenced to activists.. that the rush = trading one problem for another.

But many local activists say we need to slow this rush to renewables or risk trading one power problem for another

Maybe we should follow the Europeans on this one (egads, what am I saying?).

They rely largely on nuclear power. I had read an article (unfortunately, I forget where), that described new nuclear power plants. Some, are small, and buried under 40 feet of concrete. They are self contained, and basically foolproof. Some sort of “cannon ball” shaped stones get place in the bottom. They feed off of each other, making power. They are small enough that they don’t cause a disaster. And they are under so much concrete that even the most determined jihadist woundn’t “make a dent” in them….

But yes, the nuts want us to apologize for our own existance, and live in cold caves (those campfires cause carbon….).

there simply is no answer.. except to eliminate the problem.. the eco-freaks (grin)
