Tax Day Tea Party 2009

terribly early in the morning on Thursday, the 16th of April 2009 by Katie

I attended a local Tea Party yesterday.  I even brought my 71 year old father to the event (it was his first protest).

There were protesters of all ages at the event.  Families with small children.  Older Gents with canes.  There were a couple of hundred attendees.  All of us standing in the cold, driving rain, sinking in the waterlogged grassy field.

It was the most respectful protest that I had ever seen.  No “four letter” words.  No vicious rhetoric.

So, what did they do at this rally?  They read the Constitution of the United States.  They read from Gibbon’s “Decline of the Roman Empire”.  And Thomas Paine had his turn too.

It was a decidedly pro-American event.  They were worried about their country.  They were concerned that we were spending ourselves into oblivion.  They were pro-Capitalist, anti-socialist, and angry.  Not in a rabid-frothing-at-the-mouth sort of a way.  But it a we-love-our-country-and-want-to-save-it sort of a way.

The above might surprise you, depending on your new source.  I’ve heard it called anti-government, anti-Obama, etc. by some of the media.  I’ve even heard it was anti CNN (wow, someone has a conspiracy complex).

Click here to watch a video from a CNN reporter.

Note her contemptuous attitude.  Wow, that “un-biased” reporting?  She was on the attack mode, even before she started the questioning.  The derisive tone that she used when reading the signs.  The “I see you’ve brought your two-year old”.  And notice how she thinks that we should all be happy with a $400 credit – are we to bought off that cheaply?  Or her mention of the Billions that Illinois will get in stimulus funds – do they really think that we are all whores – willing to sell our body and soul for the dollar?

Michelle Malkin has more on the reporter.  The same reporter that was offended that Obama was called a fascist, previously failed to show similar outrage when Bush was compared to Hitler.

And, Michelle Malkin has plenty of pictures from various events.

Do I think that they Tea Parties will make a difference?  Maybe not.  I think that the pigs in DC are oblivious to most of us.  They are the drunken sailors in a whorehouse, spending like there is no tomorrow.  I think that they are convincing themselves that the protesters are a small minority.

So, why did I attend?  I am fed up.  Those in DC might not hear me, but that isn’t because I didn’t try.  I love my country.  I am not willing to let it change irreparably without trying to save it…

UPDATE:  Vanity Fair Contributing Editor derides the Tea Parties.

And the White House Response?  ABC: Obama ‘Unaware of Tea Parties’

Unaware of the Tea Parties?  Is he completely surrounded by “Yes Men”?  Does someone at the White House have a clue?

You mentioned CNN, but what about MSNBC’s coverage. I listened,to rachel maddow, yes i was in great pain. She brought up some vernacular definition of the word teabagger/teabagging. She shieked in he snide way how everyone should know what that means. I personally had to look it up. She is a vile woman to compare the tea party actions to the slang meaning of that word. I was also left wondering how a lesbian knows about that activity.

Listened to Rachel Maddow? Scary. Shrieking harpy.

I’ve been listening to the news today. Is there any hope that we will even have unbiased coverage? Wasn’t that why we have “Freedom of Press”?

NY Times – the only protest that made the front page was under the old, and in Afghanistan…

And the horrid elitism of it all. Looking down their noses at the tea parties, deriding them, yet at the same time, accusing them of being funded by rich people.

And the continuous mantra of taxes being patriotic.

Katie thank you.. thank you for posting this & thank you for taking your time to attend that gathering..

that video, was sickening.. the only way we ever have seen polite protestors is if they are no doubt not liberals.. (or are hippies who are too stoned to know what they are protesting about in the 1st place). that interviewer was a B!tch.. saying this is “obviously not family viewing”(wonder what her viewof “family viewing” is?) , she cuts people off and the sgement before any point can be shown.. because either she is afraid she might have to wake up or she does not want tobe seen with her fingers in her ears as she does the toddler nah-nah i can’t hear you dance.

I did not even bother to look at the news yesterday.. but always thankful katie does!

I will hope that this event makes a difference, but I won’t hold my breath in expectation.. there were too many morons who voted for Obama.. there are too many people who still defend him.. that blows my mind & scares me too!

I don't think I'm alone when I say I'd like to see more and more planets fall under the ruthless domination of our solar system.
