I’m a little bit conflicted about this. Teachers are to be allowed to carry firearms into the classroom.
Now, I’m not conflicted because I think its a bad idea. I’m conflicted because I’ve been fed so many opinions by the media that this would be a bad idea. But its hard to think of a logical bad conclusion to this.
There have been many school shootings, and nothing can stop them. Students will always bring weapons into school somehow. If it can be done in prison, its always going to be easier to do in school.
Therefore the only way to keep the damage down is to be able to quickly shoot the offender before more damage can be done. This won’t happen when the authority figures have no weapons, or they’re locked up in their cars. But if every third or fourth teacher carries, and its not known which do and don’t, well, that will prevent a lot of violent crime from happening. While “suicide by teacher” may be an issue that will arise now, I seriously doubt any kid will bring in a weapon just to threaten someone else.
