What is Racism?

Race bias.. what amazes me is how people totally miss race bias is a two way street. But why on earth does it have to be about race? And the ones who have made this about race are those (black & white) who are white-haters. There are people who ONLY voted for Obama because of his skin color, and others who refused because of the same reason. Neither is a good reason to choose (or not) a president. I could not have cared less if the candidates were purple & green..
So, what is racism? Apparently for many (white-hating people) this term needs to be defined.. direct from Merriam Webster…
- Main Entry: rac·ism
- Pronunciation: \ˈrā-ˌsi-zəm also -ˌshi-\
- Function: noun
- Date: 1933
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race 2 : racial prejudice or discrimination
rac·ist \-sist also -shist\ noun or adjective
Ok “belief that race… produce an inherent superiority of a particular race”.. so who sounds like the racist, and who sounds like the victim of racism?
Superiority.. everyone has strengths & weaknesses. And though there are people who argue this.. there are certain gifts/talent that are more common in various races. There is no one superior to another person.. we all gain from one another, we all can learn from each other. We all can appreciate and enjoy the gifts of others! One person may paint masterpieces, another may have unimaginable skills at technologies, we all need the skills of medical professionals, not every one can be a good orator, not everyone can be a people person.. skills and talents run the gamut, and one by itself would be worthless.
The sad thing is those who take advantage of others weaknesses or heck there are those who take advantage of others strengths too. There are those who try to milk a situation, they will use it to demand money, education, job, position, power, or any number of things. That is wrong. I can not think of a race, religion, nationality, whatever.. that has not been wronged at some point in their blood line. The strength is to build from it, and grow from it.. not condemn others for something they may or may not have any connection too. Progress is moving forward!
Back to my original issue…
What happened to merit? Getting a job because you earned it, because you have the skills & talent for that specific job? Obama does not have the skills & talent to be president.. that was obvious his whole campaign to anyone who actually paid attention.
Then there are laws that protect black people from getting fired or not hired, plus they have scholarships based solely on their skin color! Why? It is the result of the white man’s guilt.. perpetually paying back people who may or may not have a connection to those who actually suffered and had to fight for their rights.
Yes, i think slavery is wrong, and I think racism is wrong. But blacks were not the lone race to be slaves, and racism was not solely the black man’s blight. But the direction they are aiming to condemn white people based on being white.. is that not racism?
The apologies have long since been handed out, the gifts and rewards are no doubt exhausted. And they now have a token of achievement “running” our country. He is definitely not qualified, he has no freaking clue.. and not even a week in, it already shows! So when I say this is a token achievement.. it is because it is.. he did not achieve the position of president based on merit.. he received it based it on corrupt relationships and a love fest with the media. He won it based on lies and deceit. Ok yes, he is a politician.. but seriously there are others who are less tainted by lies & deceit than he is! With his skills with the media and his other unfortunate connections he could be great at perhaps being a lawyer or perhaps in advertising.
Now.. the apologies that should be shoveled out belong to the black people! Those that have bundled up all white people into a package and demanded we repay for the past, a past many of do not have connections too, a past had we been a part of & we no doubt would have done things different. If they are going to point fingers, saying that by being white we are tied to all white people.. and specifically those who are bad and have done them wrong, yet never look at those who did them right. Then we can turn the table and say the same, right? Fair is fair.. if ALL white people are to blame for the past wrongs, then ALL black people are to blame sending their families off to be slaves, they are ALL guilty of murders and gang violence, they need to pay back all the money paid out to them in scholarships and welfare and all other funds that were given based on laziness or some bs reason.
During the inauguration there was a despicable old man (Rev Lowery) who offered up misguided words… if Obama was a decent man he would have been embarrassed by those words & would have apologized for it. but he has a string of relationships with militants, terrorists, and other unsavory characters. He severs those relationships only if they become inconvenient.. and for display purposes only. Then off he goes to find an equal replacement.. they are the same white-hating groups or individuals, just with a different name.
I did not post on this till now, because the utter stupidity of this “man’s” words, and I just was taken back. I also gave Obama the “benefit of the doubt”, figured he could prove he is decent IF he apologized for that person.. but he has not. He is not sorry, and by not apologizing he is supporting what was said, and supporting that “man”.
This editorial is what inspired me to post on this issue..
But not all people understand the inherently egalitarian nature of colorblind freedom, in which decisions are based on merit, character and a host of considerations that don’t include sex, creed, nationality or color.
In an otherwise fabulous inauguration ceremony, the Rev. Joseph Lowery, a Methodist minister who’s black, shocked the masses when he infused racism into a prayer. He asked God "to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man, and when white will embrace what is right."
Ok, I must have missed something… but is there some place in America that still have blacks go to the back of the bus? “brown stick around”.. ok is brown Mexican, Muslim or “Black”? The Mexicans have been coming and sticking around, the only problem with the “sticking around” is their legal status. Muslims, well they just bomb and go or die.. would we want them to remain after that? “Red getting ahead”.. there is nothing keeping them back either, American Indians are not refused anything and if they are they are smart enough to fight for it, and the India Indians are taking over, or at least taking our jobs. “White embracing right’”.. ok this moron has been around 86 years.. did he sleep for that period of time? Has he missed what has changed over the course of the gee nearly a century? The changes have been drastic & many. This nut-job needs to wake up, and get out of his white-hating world.. he needs to realize who has worked so hard to make things as they are now.. there is so much he needs to wise up to.
The vast majority of white people almost always do what’s right, Rev. Lowery. In fact, there’s no reason to believe that white people embrace what’s right with less frequency than brown, yellow, red or black people do.
The fact that good white people far outnumber bad is the reason this country ended slavery in short order. It’s one reason more than 360,000 Union soldiers, most of them white, gave their lives in the Civil War. White people, who embraced what was right, helped black civil rights leaders, such as Lowery, succeed in the mid-20th century.
Referring to Rev Lowery as a civil rights leader just puts me in aw.. how can someone who is more into dividing.. be called a civil rights leader? It is people like Lowery who are a HUGE part of the problem! MLK Jr was a civil rights leader, but Lowery is a white-hating, militant, black jack-ass! The wrong man was shot in 1968.
Among the millions of white people who embraced what is right during our country’s civil rights battle were Michael Schwerner and Andrew Goodman, who were killed by the Klan in Mississippi after a day of registering black voters. And wasn’t Viola Gregg Liuzzo, mother of five children, a white embracing what is right when she was shot and killed by an Alabama Klansman for helping southern blacks? And what about all those white editors and reporters and lawyers who risked their lives throughout the civil rights movement by actively fighting segregation and racism? What about all those white people who marched on Washington, demanding civil rights for blacks? How about R.C. Hoiles, founder of The Gazette’s parent company, who editorialized against Japanese internment in World War II? Didn’t they embrace what is right?
Weren’t most people who voted for Obama white people, trying to embrace what they thought was the right choice for president? How dare you suggest that white people don’t embrace what’s right, Rev. Lowery. It’s a good thing most black people don’t embrace your antiquated views.
Ahhh but dear writer of this editorial.. too many Black people hold the same warped views and ideas as Lowery does.. and no doubt Obama does too.. again he never made any apologies for Lowery’s sing-song speech. And wouldn’t Obama have received a copy in advance.. I would expect he would have to approve things that were spoken that day.. but even if he did not.. he should have said something.. but he has not. Silence can often be an admission of guilt!
"The civil rights movement would not have yielded such great results so soon if courageous whites had not participated, many losing their personal wealth and social standing, some dying alongside blacks," wrote columnist Bill Maxwell, who is black, in the Jan. 20 issue of the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times.
Upstaging Lowery’s racist remarks were those of presidential economic adviser Robert Reich – labor secretary under President Bill Clinton – who advocated a racist approach to President Obama’s proposed economic stimulus plan while meeting with members of Congress this month. (See it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=opxuUj6vFa4)
"I am concerned, as I’m sure many of you are, that these jobs not simply go to high skilled people who are already professional or to white male construction workers," Reich said. "Criteria can be set, so that the money does go to others, the long term unemployed minorities, women, people who are not necessarily construction workers or high-skilled professionals."
So white men who pound nails and pour cement are the villainous ruling class now, and they must be denied federal largesse because of their skills and professionalism. And making sure they get no pork will be Reich, a man born into privilege who graduated Dartmouth, Oxford and Yale, after attending one of the finest high schools in New York.
This enormously wealthy man – who’s white as white can be and born with a silver spoon in his mouth – wants to make sure the government goes out of its way to exclude hard-working, blue-collar men who happen to be white.
Racism and sexism don’t get bolder than that.
Obama, known as our first post-racial president, should condemn Reich’s comments and denounce him as an adviser. If the federal government gives away money, and creates make-work jobs, it most certainly should not exclude on a basis of race. Millions have fought and suffered and died to make this a country of racial equality, and we can’t tolerate policies that would change our course.
So.. racism.. looks like it is being “redefined”.. and soon white people will be the ones fighting .. but too we will get scholarships and hands outs for it, right?
