PC Police is At It Again – This Time It Is the Netherlands

Hat tip to Michelle Malkin for bringing this to our attention.

Freedom of speech is evidently an unheard concept in the EU.

Geert Wilders to be prosecuted for inciting hatred.

The Amsterdam court has ruled that the Public Prosecutor’s Office should after all prosecute the right-wing populist politician Geert Wilders for remarks about Muslims and Islam. The court found that there was a case of inciting hatred, discrimination and insulting language to answer. Earlier the Public Prosecutor decided not to proceed against Mr Wilders, which sparked numerous protests from organisations and individuals.
The court regarded Mr Wilders’ remarks as punishable in law in view of both their content and the manner of presentation. The judges characterized the presentation as comprising “one-sided, generalised phrasing characterised by a radical nature, constant repetition and increasing ferocity”. The court further ruled that the prosecution of the PVV party leader would not conflict with the right to freedom of expression.
Mr Wilders said it was “a black day for freedom of speech” and for himself. Although he was confident he would be exonerated, he was afraid the trial might last so long and cost the PVV so much that the future existence of the party would be jeopardised.

Interestingly enough, while accused of inciting hatred, discrimination, ya-da-ya-da-ya-da, they never accuse him of giving false information.  So, while they obviously dislike the content, evidently the content is true.

Not that truth is important to the PC police.  They just want everyone to “feel good”.

Evidently, Wilders’ atrocity is a short film called Fitna.  The film was banned, before its release, due the its “controversial nature”.

Approximately 17 minutes in length, the film shows a selection of Suras from the Qur’an, interspersed with media clips and newspaper clippings showing or describing acts of violence and/or hatred by Muslims. The movie wishes to demonstrate that the Qur’an, and the Islamic culture in general, motivates its followers to hate all who violate the Islamic teachings. Consequently, the film argues, Islam encourages, among others, acts of terrorism, antisemitism, violence against women, and Islamic universalism. A large part of the movie deals with the influence of Islam on the Netherlands.

So, you decide – the making of a film that you don’t like – is it criminal?  And if it is – where can I sue for Ishtar?

But seriously – how are we supposed to engage in an intelligent, informed conversation, if we are not allowed to see the true stories that might “offend” people?  How can our government fight the Islamic extremists, if we are not even allowed to acknowledge their extremism?

Britain is setting up two parallel legal systems – one using Common Law the other using Sharia Law.  How can this not cause chaos?  Maybe when someone moves into a new country, they need to accept that country’s laws, not expect the country to bend to you.  If you don’t like their laws – go back home.

Hey, don’t knock Ishtar! I mean where else would we get songs like “Hot Fudge Love and Candy Apple Kisses” and “If You Learn the Accordian You’ll Never Be Asked To Play In a Rock-and-Roll Band!”
