Is anyone Else Sick of All the Czars?

czar

–noun

1. an emperor or king.

2. (often initial capital letter) the former emperor of Russia.

3. an autocratic ruler or leader.

4. any person exercising great authority or power in a particular field: a czar of industry.

I’ve always wondered why our country nominated czars.  After all, we fought a War of Independence in order to get out from under the rule of a king, and now, we’re voluntarily allowing a multitude of czars.

It seems as though Obama has chosen his “Energy Czar”.  Joy.

Another former Clinton person.  Carol Browner.

On her last day in office, nearly eight years ago, Browner oversaw the destruction of agency computer files in brazen violation of a federal judge’s order requiring the agency to preserve its records.

Well, that’s just peachy.  And it gets more interesting:

Early in her first term as EPA head, Browner got caught by a congressional subcommittee using taxpayer funds to create and send out illegal lobbying material to over 100 grassroots environmental lobbying organizations. Browner exploited her office to orchestrate a political campaign by left-wing groups, who turned around and attacked Republican lawmakers for supporting regulatory reform. These are the very same groups – anti-business, anti-sound science, pro-eco-hysteria – that Browner would be working arm in arm with as Obama’s “energy czar.”

And we all know that Washington is talking about appointing a “Car Czar”.

The czar will also have the power to force any of the Detroit carmakers into bankruptcy in the spring if they haven’t cut quick deals with labor unions, creditors and others to restructure their businesses and become viable.

The government fails to keep itself in the black, yet they think that they should be able to dictate to an industry?

But, my personal favorite czar has to be….

The UN “Water Czar”.

The United Nations named a “water czar” this week to advise the world body on water policy. And while no one disputes the growing importance of water-supply issues around the globe, some are wondering if they’ve picked the right woman for the job.….

Supporters say Maude Barlow of Canada is the perfect choice. “We are just thrilled. We think there’s no one better to fill this spot,” said Wenonah Hauter, executive director of Food & Water Watch, of which Barlow is a board member.

“She has been probably the most outspoken and well-known advocate in making water a human right and making sure that water is in public control, not corporate control,” Hauter told FOXNews.com.

But critics say Barlow, 61, an activist from Nova Scotia with no scientific training, has no place advising the United Nations on hydrological issues. “[She] frequently resorts to hyperventilated or exaggerated claims — she’s convinced the bottled water industry is out to take over the world,” said Tom Lauria, vice president of communications for the International Bottled Water Association.

“She makes such outrageous statements that you wonder why the U.N. would entrust her with even a titular position.”

Barlow has accused major players in the water industry, like Suez Energy and Nestle Water, of violating human rights “in lots of cases” and has blamed them for sickness and death in a number of countries.

Wow, she sound perfect.  No scientific training.  And an activist.  Yes, she’s the logical choice for the UN.

Oh, in case you’re curious here is a link to Food and Water Watch.  Click there to review their site.  Then, decide for yourself whether or not an Executive Director would truly be unbiased in the rule as Water Czar.
