Now The Truth Comes Out – Reid Was Offended By Tourists

in the early evening on Tuesday, the 2nd of December 2008 by Katie

From the DC Examiner

Best reason I’ve ever heard for not showering often.  Reid is offended by our odor…

The Capitol Visitors Center, which opened this morning, may have tripled its original budget and fallen years behind schedule, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid found a silver lining for members of Congress: tourists won’t offend them with their B.O. anymore.
“My staff tells me not to say this, but I’m going to say it anyway,” said Reid in his remarks. “In the summer because of the heat and high humidity, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol. It may be descriptive but it’s true.”

Hmmm, maybe he should include that with his next campaign run.

Or, maybe he isn’t familiar with the smell of an honest day’s work.

Yes, I’m sure we’ve all be subjected to someone’s excessive odor in an elevator.  But, gee, the politicians just tripled their budget for the project (now costing $621 million), and Reid thinks that is money well spent, because it protects his delicate sensibilities from the “stench of the masses”.  Makes me want to vote for him (please note overwhelming sarcasm).

Gee, Mr. Reid, excuse me is some of us might “offend” at the end of a long, hard day spending our tourist dollars in Washington.  Frankly, most of the tourists are quite offended by the stench of the politicians – they leave huge piles of BS where ever they roam…

More on the Capitol Visitors Center

Initially conceived in the early 1990s and projected to cost $71 million, the CVC has become an example of out-of-control government contracting and mismanagement. After costs ballooned and construction schedules spiraled out of control, the three-level, underground monument to congressional excess finally came in at a whopping $621 million and three years behind schedule.

Here is a letter written in response to Reid’s offensive comment.

Sounds so much to me like the Roman Senators under the emperor. Worthless, but still think themselves relevant to everyone and above them.

You know, his comment peeved me off so badly.

I am so sick and friggin’ tired of these self serving sanctimonious “know it all” bastards looking down from their GD marble tower on us.

How dare he. How dare he look “down” on the very people that pay for his friggin’ salary and complain about the smell of the masses on a hot, humid day. How dare he look down on the very people who decided to make Washington DC a vacation destination and spend their hard earned money there.

And for him to stand there and bask in the laughter of his audience (Michelle Malkin has a link to the video of the comment).

These GD out of touch self satisfied bastard politicians. I’m sorry, I’ve met Biden. Smug arrogant nitwit. All I wanted to do was knock out his capped teeth and pull out the hair plugs.

And these are the same people who want to tell us what cars to drive, what weapons we can defend ourselves with, where we can smoke a still legal cigarette, how much we can eat, what we can eat,… Everything down to the ugly corkscrewy lightbulb they want us to use…

Yes, there is a huge stench in Washington. But it isn’t from the sweaty tourists. It is from all the s**t that the politicians have been shoveling….
