Ladies, It Is Called Personal Responsibility (Part 2)

terribly early in the morning on Sunday, the 30th of November 2008 by Katie

Let me first state, that if the woman’s drink was really drugged, then the below does not apply.

Ladies, learn your limit or accept the consequences.

Woman in Metrodome sex incident says she was victim.

This case involves an interesting half time show, held in the men’s bathroom.  A woman and a man “were ticketed for indecent conduct after they were reportedly caught engaging in sexual activity in a Metrodome men’s restroom handicapped stall during the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers game with the Iowa Hawkeyes. More than a dozen people in the restroom were cheering [woman] and [man] by the time authorities arrived, a University of Minnesota Police report says.”

The woman “acknowledged drinking heavily before the game and says she doesn’t remember being in the bathroom….  Information obtained in police reports and during an interview with University of Minnesota Police Chief Greg Hestness revealed no suggestion or evidence that the incident was anything but consensual on the part of both Walsh and Feldman.”

“Hestness said [the woman] made no allegations to the officers at the scene about the incident being non-consensual.
“If the implication is lack of consent due to intoxication, I guess that could be true for either party, however, they declined the officer’s request to submit to an (alcohol test) so the extent of intoxication cannot be demonstrated,” Hestness said.

Actually, there is one that that bothers me about some sexual assault cases.  The woman has the right to say “no” at any point in the action.  At any point.  No matter how drunk she is.  No matter how drunk her partner is.  No matter how far their action has already gone.  In some recent cases, the man (drunk as he might be) is supposed to somehow determine whether the woman is even too drunk to say yes.  Aren’t we demanding super human strength from our men?  Why are they held to a “higher standard” than their female partner?  Men are basically expected to stop on a dime, the moment the woman changes her mind.  Even if he is as dead drunk as the woman.    Isn’t there a “point of no return” that should be acknowledged?

But, ladies, have a plan when you go drinking in public.  Either limit your consumption or stay with your group.  Make sure that someone, who cares about you, is with you and is willing to prevent you from doing stupid things.  And yes, you are still responsible for the stupid things that you do when you are dead drunk.  Just as the drunk driver who gets in a fatal accident is responsible for murder….
