Wonderful Day
around lunchtime on Saturday, the 29th of November 2008 by Gypsy
Hauled out the Christmas gear yesterday.. and as soon as I started putting things up, the snow started.. and again today.. it looks like a snow globe outside..big huge flakes, steadily coming down in a perfect swirl! Ahhh.. love it! Could not ask for a more perfect day to get ready for Christmas!
Once we have some nice accumulation.. we will snap some pix!
So how do you decorate for Christmas? Do you go all out, and deck out every room in your home? Or opt for the simplicity of a decorated tree? Do you trim your entire (exterior) of your home in lights?
Houses trimmed in lights: I always love to ooh & ahh that feat, but not something I would do.. It would always happen that some portion of the light string would cease to work, even though I test everything first.
My decor? I go for poinsettias on our front railing, a wreath on the front door & (candle) lights in each window. I have greenery around our home, at the archway with mistletoe, and a gathering of snowmen. Our tree at the stairs next to the fireplace is decorated with flicker flame candles, white lights, glass icicles, red-berries, and favorite ornaments. I also love to do something special in our guest room too.. to make it sweet & special, a little tree, a stocking, and other little items.
I would love to know what you do for your Christmas decor.. please share!

Here in the desert people will wrap lights around their Cactus.
It is a surreal feeling when you see your First Saguaro in twinkle lights.

We will have big, colorful, blinky lights outside. Tee hee.
But, we really only decorate one (huge) bush outside, and then have our Christmas tree in the front window (colorful lights, also).
We’ve just never had the cash to buy lots of nice decorations. Or, maybe my “decoration” is the smell of cookies baking or the taste of the homemade fudge….

i think a lit up cactus cool.. and it is all a matter of climate.. our neighbor is from hawaii, i have friends in australia.. i think it is so neat to see how differently people celebrate!
Katie, i think christmas is more special when it is not creatd with money.. I can imagine all the creations your girls have made for the tree.. that is so much more wonderful! and priceless!
I don’t have tons of stuff.. i rotate my decor each year, and use it in different ways.. i love doing that.. i do have alot of ornaments that i have accumulated over decades (but I also do not have kids.. that makes a huge difference).
