Indian… No it’s Native Americans… No again it’s 1st Americans…

Another Malkin gem.. Indian, Native American, 1st American..  Now what is funny I was just watching a comedy special with Jeff Dunham.. he had his cranky old man puppet who said “Indian”, and Jeff said the “politically correct term is ‘Native American’”.. the old man groaned but then said “well that makes sense, because it gets confusing.. is it an Ay-Ay-Ay Indian or ‘Thank you for calling customer service’ Indian”.. too cute… and funny-true!

So along with our periodic political bs changes of acceptable labeling of groups.. we also have our apologies for the past, the mourning of the destruction of the land.. etc.. more shame for the White man! How long before we start fighting back for the reality that we are the walking target for everything?

This is the only country that has apologized for stepping foot onto this land, for “taking” land from others and for slaves.

Wars and land acquisition is what history and cultures is formed on.. what would happen if there were no wars? There would be no advancements.. it is the mixing of cultures, the inventions from wars that have made countries better.. think about places that are proven to be backward.. they are the places with no culture mix. Medical science has its greatest advancements due to wars. There is no good with out bad.. simple as that.

Malkin’s item is from a woman who married a Native American…. so who is it who has this super sensitive issue that keeps changing the names, who is fussing and whining? Some how I doubt it is the Native Americans.. but some whackadoo group of self-hating whites with nothing better to do than to make it a major issue!

Reader Tara e-mails: “My daughter’s preschool teacher calls Indians/Native Americans ‘1st Americans.’ I guess that’s the NEW PC term. I just hope I’m not calling my kids ‘Last Americans!’”

On a related note, reader Becky e-mails:

Michelle,

Let me first say that I am married to a full Sioux, making my daughter half Sioux, and she does take after him (native genes beat Scot/Welsh/Irish imports anytime). In her pre-school and kindergarten, she was an Indian. Well, they called them Native Americans, but you get the point. Both my husband and I attended the Thanksgiving pageant for the two years of pre-school and the kindergarten play. At no time were we ever offended that our daughter was an Indian, Native American, whatever. In fact, we joked about it being typecasting! She had fun with it, played it up. Everyone loved it. No one asked if we were offended or anything. No one asked us ahead if we minded, either, and they all knew her heritage.

Neither of us has ever been the type to object to the Indian mascots for sports teams or anything else. The only time I have ever had a problem with his heritage is when a former employer denied me a promotion because I was a “dirty squaw who married a dirty Indian”. I quit as soon as I heard the comment, filed a grievance and put the small-minded people out of business, at least in that state (they only had 6 employees).

It’s called history people. Get a life!

My former co-workers are hiring a new engineer. MSEE. They said he’s “indian”. One tech characterized further: “dot. Not feather”.

I’m the horridly non-PC mom who voluteerings at my girls’ school. I have been know to make the fue paux of wishing kids a Happy Halloween.

But nothing gets me grinning like hearing the teachers tell the kids to sit “criss-cross-applesauce”. The PC police again. No sitting “indian style” like when I was a kid. Instead they force teachers to say that mouthfull of gobbly-gook.

(as a tongue twister, try to say criss cross applesauce 10 times fast…)

Oh, and you can’t say eskimo, papoose or squaw… And forget saying “calling a spade a spade” or “pot calling the kettle black”…

I am Navajo and I absolutely HATE the political correctness towards Indians. Get OVER it. We are INDIANS, we are NOT sensitive to what you call us. We know where we came from and who we are we do not need any of you who do NOT know our culture telling us what we like to be called and what we don’t want to be called. You cannot group us either as Native Americans, or 1st Americans or whatever tickles your fancy that day. We are Navajo, Apache, Souix, Cherrokee, Laguna, Isleta, Jemes, Zuni etc… Or better yet – you self righteous, politically correct morons with the “I have to be in your business” attitude – call us by our name.

Anita.. thank you, I wish the PC police would listing to Native Americans/Indians… (or what ever they permit, sigh).. I think the whole thing is insulting, and stupid..
And definitely classifying is wrong.. heck the crap of calling black people Africian American is wrong.. not all black people are from Africa!
Both scenarios are like calling all whites German.. not all white people even have German (though alot of us do.. some of us are Russian, English, Irish, Scottish.. etc).

I’m Cherokee – my culture is different from western plains “Indians.”

With all the rants I’ve read against “Native Americans” this week, not one mentioned the celebration of our heritage set aside this month. That goes for Michelle Malkin and Michael Medved.

I read one post on Malkins blog about “handouts” – where the hell are they? I’ve never gotten one.

The last time my families’ land was taken from us was in 1943 by FDR- that’s not ancient history folks.

As a note in history-the Cherokee fought the white man in court with his own law in the 1800s and won…but Andrew Jackson removed us from our ancestral land anyway. We had our own printing press by the early 1800s with special Cherokee fonts, trained lawyers, and we had representatives sent to Washington to protest the removal…to no avail.

You’re fond of lumping us all together…again..where are the handouts? Apparently you know more about Indian treaties than I or you wouldn’t make these arrogant comments.

Too bad if you don’t like us – we’re here to stay!!
