Doubting the Polls…

at around evening time on Wednesday, the 1st of October 2008 by Tina

This is something I have be curious about.. the “phone polls”… the hype has been about how now and savvy the Obama [spit] campaign has been & is.. and how this election is anew technology election.. and how the media beat up on McCain for his use of email (due to war injury)….

So with all this.. I see an article on the Baltimore Sun about Obama [spit] being up on the 3 crucial states.. from PHONE POLLS.. gee that is nearly as technologically advanced as writing them a letter and perhaps pony expressing it..

How many people have “call block”? how many people have “caller ID”.. and ONLY answer if they know the name & or number? How about that new fangled contraption called an answering machine? when they reach that they hang up our you get one of those long winded recorded political crapola messages.

Ok step past that.. then you have the people who opt for a cell phone vs home phone aka land-line. So how are they reaching those people?

Now lets say they decided to use cell numbers.. would they call every cell number.. that could be several numbers to the same household.. ma, pa, jr, sis.. grandma, grandpa.. the dog.. again equals skewed results.

So how on earth can they rah-rah on the poll “results” they seem bogus to me. I was not polled via phone.. if I was it was one of those “unknown” (caller-id) numbers that I do not answer.

So what is the real number?

I am sure we can expect those overly enthusiastic, drooling, brain-dead, zombie,. Obama [spit] worshipping freaks to vote.. but how many is that really? I am curious if they are not following him tour bus style (ala grateful dead -dead head style)??

The other people that the democrats have been urging to vote.. humm lets see we have seen children chanting disturbing brainwash-esque Hail-Obama [spit] songs.. don’t think they will be able to vote. We know they hit campuses really hard.. those people will either be too busy (actually) studying.. hung over from partying.. or forget which day the election is.. or oops forgot to register… so those are upsides.. who else is there? They have promoted to people who have not voted in the past.. think they will do it this time, we can only hope they they don’t.

We know those who have been impressed.. rather blown away by Palin.. and additionally impressed by McCain’s choice of her.. these people will vote in droves!

Then there are those who backed Hillary.. I imagine even those who said they would Obama [spit] may still be on the fence.. plus those who were on the fence and of course those who jumped the fence with the choice of Palin..

How does that work out?.. I hope Biden can keep sticking his foot in his mouth successfully.. I can hope Obama [spit] irks some state he is in.. by calling it the wrong state, confusing historical info (and the drones actually realizing it).. or some other impressionable gaffe.

…even if pollsters started calling cell phones tonight, they won’t find the same kinds of people at the other end of the handset.  First, the young, tech savvy voter isn’t going to stop the car or leave the restaurant to take a survey.  They probably aren’t going to take your call, at all, frankly, because they don’t know you.  And they certainly won’t be solicited by some stranger to think or act or vote in a particular manner.  Instead, he or she is getting all the information they want from a small coterie of friends and associates who share ideas, review and recommend products, and gossip about stuff they have already decided to care about.  They likely prefer to chat via IM, maybe a leisurely email, more likely a Twitter or Pownce blast.  As such, their attitudes and opinions probably won’t be the same as the land-bound phone owner.
