drunken Teaching
in the early evening on Wednesday, the 3rd of September 2008 by Tina
Now I flash back to a high school teacher who had a HUGE thermos that was always filled with liquor.. plus he often would hang out at bars with my classmates (yes high school students, and yes they got into bars.. and these were 9th graders at the time)
What I am baffled by is, that this elementary school teacher had twice the legal limit for alcohol, while teaching children.. and she was NOT arrested! Go figure CA of all places considers this a misdemeanor!
How on earth can they find it OK, for a person responsible for the well being of kids, to be drunk. What would happen if this was a day care worker?
California scares me more and more… really needs to separate and fall into the ocean!
The woman wasn’t arrested, according to the paper, but California law classifies it a misdemeanor to be under the influence of any intoxicating liquor, drug or controlled substance in a state rendering a person incapable of caring for the safety of himself or others.

Yet another reason that teachers should have a morals clause in their contract.
I remember when I was student teaching, the teachers were not allowed to smoke on campus (this was a new rule). This was because the district realized that teachers lead by example. So why are they clearly missing that point now?
Teachers should not have tramp stamps (or at least, they should be covered). Unmarried teachers should not get knocked up (what example does that leave?). Teachers should not swear at school. Certaily, teachers should not be drunk, at school
Although, I do laugh. My students caught me at two different Metallica concerts. By the look of surprise on their faces, I guessed that that was the last place they thought that a teacher should be.
