Uniforms…

Boy this title stretches way out there…
Judge OKs ‘Hitler Youth’ Buttons to Protest School Uniform Policy
Now this is Newark New Jersey.. I think there is a GOOD reason to implement a uniform or clothing policy of some kind there. Of course, the article does not mention specifics of the clothing policy.
The buttons are simply of kids dressed alike & no school uniforms. Nothing about Hitler, no swastika, the title of this article on foxnews is very deceptive!
As suggestive as kids have been dressing (specifically girls, inspired with Bratz dolls, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and other celebrity skanks), kids definitely need a dress code, and Uniforms would definitely help!

Sad to say, but I support school uniforms at this point. They were not necessary when the parents actually “had a clue”, but too many parents have an “anything goes” mentality. When I was in school, my mom would certainly send me back to my room if she saw something inappropriate. She tried to balance the “self expression” need that I had and the decency standard that she had.
It reminds me of this recent story
http://www.momlogic.com/2008/08/dress_gets_girl_booted.php?page=4
Girl got kicked out of mall because she was wearing a long shirt as a dress. She left nothing to the imagination and people complained. And, you’ve probably guessed it - she is suing the mall. She seems to think that women should wear whatever they want. Now, this was not an appropriate outfit to wear in a mall, with families around. But, it was a perfect street walker outfit, so she should just take her profession out the street, where it belongs…

Katie I am for uniforms.. definitely.. with how kids dress and the expense of cloths for kids.. uniforms are more practical!
my parents were not home when i went to school or came home.. so anything couldhave gone for me.. but our school also was very strict (and it was public school) no buttons past the top button undone, no ankles exposed, no t-shirts, no open toes, no shoulders exposed, no make up permitted, etc.. of course the rebels of us would manage to sneak in some make up… wild huh? hee
i am glad you had a good family!!
i did see the mall story, i did not read i, but saw the headline. i figured it was as you mentioned..
whatever happened to the kneel down to judge if a skirt is the correct length???
