Damage of Negative ads

at around evening time on Tuesday, the 12th of August 2008 by Tina

Does the Media know their power? People in general are stupid.. and stupid people are very easily swayed by the media. A smart person who hears a negative ad would research it!

The following article which is focusing on race had some interesting points that prove what negative ads can do.

The race issue is only an issue when people make it one. Most if not all really could care less the color of the president.. they (should) care about that person’s merits, policies, and experience!

Days before the 2006 Senate election in Tennessee, with polls showing the race almost deadlocked, Republicans released an ad featuring a ditzy blond actress saying she met Harold Ford Jr. at the Playboy Club and asking the black Democrat to “call me.” Ford lost.

In 1990’s tight North Carolina Senate contest. Republican Jesse Helms was running about even with Democrat Harvey Gantt when he released an ad showing white hands crumpling a job rejection letter as a narrator mentioned racial quotas. Helms won.

What I find interesting is, that black people are obviously more racist than whites are:

…during the Democratic primary: In states with larger black populations, such as Virginia, South Carolina, Mississippi and Georgia, Obama [spit] got more votes than polls predicted.

I breathe a sigh of relief with the final line of this article! It gives me hope that Obama [spit] (or whatever his name is today) will not win, and that is not about race (I would gladly vote for Bill Cosby, as long as he promised not to do his Jell-O commercials).

My guess is that (the Obama [spit] campaign) understands that and they know it’s not enough to be ahead,” Dowd said. “They have to be ahead by a lot.”
