Traitor/Patriot

Over at Right Thinking from the Left Coast they’re discussing John Kerry.
You may disagree with his politics, but to say he is anything other than a patriot is an insult to all veterans.
Bull fuckin’ shit! Have you heard what he accused our soldiers of doing in a VERY public way? Do you know what he did when he returned home from Vietnam?
I really have to agree here. The left has so completely redefined the word “Patriot” so that it includes anyone who takes advantage of the freedoms in the US. “I’m a patriot because I used my right to free speech,” is often heard over and over again. It is insulting to the people who actually make sacrifices to support our country. See, thats the difference. The liberal left in this country do not believe in personal sacrifice. They only believe in making others sacrifice what they have.
That is such a load of crap. Benedict Arnold fought bravely for the US. And then he became a traitor by selling out to the British. Does this make him a patriot? I hope that is not included in anyone’s definition.
John Kerry fought for our country. That makes him a patriot at that time. Just like Benedict Arnold. He came back, and promptly lost his patriot status because of what he chose to do.
Why is it so hard for people to understand timelines, and that things can change? People change. While what happens in the past can make up a part of who you are, that can mean for good or bad. So many people have used their military training to become pathological killers. Very few people start out life as pure evil, my wife’s “mother” being an exception. But the good and the bad things people do over time cancel each other out, and you are left with the end result.
Now, I am a veteran, and I feel that John Kerry is the insult to all of us. He fought bravely beside us, and then went back home and plunged the knife into our backs with the Winter Soldier investigation and all the other activities. What he accomplished in VietNam was completely negated by what he did when he got back.
“He’s such a good boy!” - comment heard right before a young man is sentenced to 30 years for murder and rape. In that order. Guess what? He’s no longer a good boy!

So true…a person can do good and have it cancelled by the bad they have done, as well as visa versa… a person can do bad and turn around and do allot of good (learning from their errors)..
We should remember the good, we should learn from the bad… BUT
When someone is running for an important position, such as president… and they have betrayed their country, and contradict themselves consistently (as Kerry does) folks need to be fully aware of the wrong he has done.
And ooh yes, there are many people who once were such a good child who became or are completely insane… this is not something that should even be noted that they were a good child… And also by whose report are they judged so, the same “good child” could be the horror of others… I have known this type of person… often!

LOVES his/her country, and SUPPORTS its authority & interests… what Kerry has done (following participating in Viet Nam) does not show LOVE or SUPPORT of his country… it does not SUPPORT our interests… As well those who cite a specific amendment and call themselves patriots because it supports THEIR current interest!
