Guess I’m not going to be eating Tyson any time soon

mid-afternoon on Monday, the 4th of August 2008 by Katie

PC police alert. An American company is replacing an American holiday so that the workers can celebrate a Muslim holiday. Tyson has dropped its Labor Day holiday to add Eid al-Fitr, which is evidently celebrated in October. They have also dedicated two rooms so that Muslims can pray there. (I wonder how many rooms they have dedicated for Jewish and Christian prayers).

Seems as though Tyson has imported Waaaayyy too many Somalians, instead of hiring Americans, and now sees the benefits of a Muslim holiday.

Well in that spirit - I suggest October 31 - a nice Wiccan holiday, which already has its own traditions; Hannukah (yes, all eight days of it); St. Patrick’s Day (we shouldn’t ignore that large Irish - and want-to-be-Irish population); and Carbon Belch Day.

The one thing I heard about this story: It has nothing to do with the company, it’s a union thing.

Seems that the majority of the workers are Muslim from Somalia. They voted for the change, and had the dates put into their union contract that was recently renewed with the company.

OK, now for the funny part:

The Labor Union is getting rid of… Labor Day.

so the union is acing Labor Day… and they are replacing an American Holiday with Muslim one.. WOW… I am totally avoiding anything Tyson (not like that is a problem.. I have not hadanything by them in eons)…PLEASE avoid them too!

I found it totally ironic that the union decided to nix a holiday created to celebrate unions, in order to celebrate the new holiday.

Yet another reason that leads me to believe that unions have passed their past due date. They are crippling us. They are one of the big reasons that the auto makers have been struggling for years. And look at the horrors of the public education system - and a lot of those are caused by the teacher’s unions.

Katie that is what i find so funny too… Unions have served their purpose, and should be eliminated anyhow.Guess they are doing it the short bus method! We aredefinitely on the same page there!
