The gulf

I’ve noticed a pattern emerging between left and right when it comes to the recent Obama [spit] world tour. Especially the campaign stop in Berlin.
I see on the right universal disgust and condemnation. Sure political candidates go on foreign visits. But there is a difference: Obama [spit] campaigned in Berlin. Gave a speech to the masses. Not merely meeting with foreign leaders which is pretty standard. This was new. Those on the right see it as further proof of the internationalization of the world, that internal politics of the United States are being unduly influenced by the goals of other countries. This is a dangerous precedent being set.
The left on the other hand sees absolutely nothing untoward with what happened. This is their candidate showing foreign policy mettle by going out among the world, spreading good will. And of course this is new. This is all about change remember?
The issue is both sides are talking past each other because they have very different basic goals.
The right is concerned about the election, about the direction that these United States will be taking in the near future. This country must do what it feels is best for this country. Serious discussion must be had for this is a critical juncture in history.
To the left the election has nothing to do with the United States. They’re thinking globally. To think in merely national terms is a product of old thinking. Progressive thought realizes that what happens in the US affects the entire world. Many on the left lament the fact that the entire world cannot vote in the US election, and are working to try to get that changed. It’s not that the left is proud of the fact the US leads the world. Surely that is an accident of history. Changing the leadership of the US to a hard left socialist is a means to an end, so as to lead the world by default.
Thus the two sides arguments can never be debated. There is no central point of conflict that both sides agree on. The solution is simple and I feel would be agreeable to almost everyone.
McCain gets the POTUS position. Even with the media so dead set on an Obama [spit] win, current polls are starting to show that this is the trend anyway.
The best place for Obama [spit] is in charge of the United Nations. That organization truly needs change. It will be something the whole world could be proud of.

The thing that really bothered me about the obama tour was the fact that he seemed to be running for office in Germany. Why was he courting the German voter? Heck, I don’t care if a foreign country likes our leader. Sometimes, that is a good thing.
What has received little coverage was the fact that Obama backed out of meeting the troops. I mean, of course, our troops stationed in Germany. So, he could spend all this time in front of a German crowd, but he couldn’t take the time to visit US troops…
And then his excuses started - he has two (it seems to work for him). His excuses, so far - 1) the Pentagon wouldn’t let him; and 2) he thought that it might look like a vote getting stunt (as opposed to the entire photo op week).

And as the truth comes out: The AP lied about the count of people at the rally. Closer to 20k, not 200k people. Off by an order of magnitude.
Also, what happened was the military hospital in Germany told Obama’s campaign that he can show up as a Senator, with a couple of his Senatorial staff. But it is illegal to use the base as a campaign stop. So the campaign said never mind.

So… Nationalists vs. Transnationalists. It’s no surprise since that dichotomy is fundamental to the separation of political wings. Consider that communism was a transnational movement whereas right wing movements (e.g. the unification of Germany) tend to be nationalist.
As for Obama getting the UN - he can have it. Then we can pack the entire UN headquarters into shipping containers and send it to China where it belongs. We could even use the same containers they ship us their cheap plastic crap in. Lower carbon footprints, reduce greenhouse gas emissions blah blah blah. We can even throw in Manbearpig.
