Scientists Are Now Admitting Climate Fraud

in the early afternoon on Thursday, the 17th of July 2008 by Capt Jake Fortune

All this is from The Australian.  First, the scientist in question’s credentials:

I DEVOTED six years to carbon accounting, building models for the Australian Greenhouse Office. I am the rocket scientist who wrote the carbon accounting model (FullCAM) that measures Australia’s compliance with the Kyoto Protocol, in the land use change and forestry sector.

FullCAM models carbon flows in plants, mulch, debris, soils and agricultural products, using inputs such as climate data, plant physiology and satellite data. I’ve been following the global warming debate closely for years.

When I started that job in 1999 the evidence that carbon emissions caused global warming seemed pretty good: CO2 is a greenhouse gas, the old ice core data, no other suspects.

This guy knows what he’s talking about, in other words.  So now the question.  Why are all these scientists going on and on about how sure they are that global warming is happening?

The evidence was not conclusive, but why wait until we were certain when it appeared we needed to act quickly? Soon government and the scientific community were working together and lots of science research jobs were created. We scientists had political support, the ear of government, big budgets, and we felt fairly important and useful (well, I did anyway). It was great. We were working to save the planet.

In other words, they weren’t sure.  They had an initial hunch, and some of the data seemed to fit their conclusion (rather than the other way around) so why wait for confirmation?

Now for his revised conclusions:

There has not been a public debate about the causes of global warming and most of the public and our decision makers are not aware of the most basic salient facts:

1. The greenhouse signature is missing. We have been looking and measuring for years, and cannot find it.

Each possible cause of global warming has a different pattern of where in the planet the warming occurs first and the most. The signature of an increased greenhouse effect is a hot spot about 10km up in the atmosphere over the tropics. We have been measuring the atmosphere for decades using radiosondes: weather balloons with thermometers that radio back the temperature as the balloon ascends through the atmosphere. They show no hot spot. Whatsoever.

When the signature was found to be missing in 2007 (after the latest IPCC report), alarmists objected that maybe the readings of the radiosonde thermometers might not be accurate and maybe the hot spot was there but had gone undetected. Yet hundreds of radiosondes have given the same answer, so statistically it is not possible that they missed the hot spot.

Recently the alarmists have suggested we ignore the radiosonde thermometers, but instead take the radiosonde wind measurements, apply a theory about wind shear, and run the results through their computers to estimate the temperatures. They then say that the results show that we cannot rule out the presence of a hot spot. If you believe that you’d believe anything.

So, the scientists are not finding the data matches their conclusions.  So obviously the data is wrong, not the scientists.  Not the talking heads.  Not the governments with promises of big funding.

This is fraud on a global scale.  Christopher Monckton proves that James Hansen and the UN’s Climate group (The IPCC) has lied to everyone.

Here’s Monckton’s conclusions in a nutshell:

  • The IPCC’s 2007 climate summary overstated CO2’s impact on temperature by 500-2000%;
  • CO2 enrichment will add little more than 1 °F (0.6 °C) to global mean surface temperature by 2100;
  • Not one of the three key variables whose product is climate sensitivity can be measured directly;
  • The IPCC’s values for these key variables are taken from only four published papers, not 2,500;
  • The IPCC’s values for each of the three variables, and hence for climate sensitivity, are overstated;
  • “Global warming” halted ten years ago, and surface temperature has been falling for seven years;
  • Not one of the computer models relied upon by the IPCC predicted so long and rapid a cooling;
  • The IPCC inserted a table into the scientists’ draft, overstating the effect of ice-melt by 1000%;
  • It was proved 50 years ago that predicting climate more than two weeks ahead is impossible;
  • Mars, Jupiter, Neptune’s largest moon, and Pluto warmed at the same time as Earth warmed;
  • In the past 70 years the Sun was more active than at almost any other time in the past 11,400 years.

    I am loving this one.. I was enjoying the global warming freaks had quited down.. now they HAVE to.. hee. It was all bull, gee who’d a thunk that?

    Another blow the the stupid masses who cheered on king stupid Gore! AHHHHHHHHHH

    Excellent find Chad.
    Thanks!

    Lord Monckton seems to be the only honest person out in that field.

    If my kid’s school forces them to watch Gore’s slide show, I will remind them that they have to watch the “other side”, which I will request to be Monckton’s video.

    I think that the big problem is that global warming has been hijacked by socialists. They are frothing at the bit over it. They see global tax dollars and redistribution of wealth on a global scale.

    Not that any of our politicians have a clue. They both seem to be running a pro-warming campaign.

    Of course the APS backpedaled quickly and put out a statement disagreeing with Monckton’s conclusions. I make the charge that they caught political heat and threats to cut funding, ruin careers, etc made them put out that statement. Meh, whatever. I’m sure the article will be buried but you see more and more every day. And of course, that has nothing to do with the top of my post where the formerly pro-warming scientist admits that they all either fudged or ignored data that did not support their preconceived conclusions.

  5. Chad Says:

    Wow, this mess gets even deeper with Monckton’s letter. That link shows his “rebuttal” against the APS.

    Check out this comment someone left at another site:
    “It’s been said many times before, but it bears repeating: Scientists are accustomed to an adversary who plays fair, and are consequently not well equipped to deal with fraud. Handling denialist, antiscientific sleaze requires a different set of tactics, and we haven’t yet put that class in the undergrad curriculum.”

    What? You’re telling me that science has no internal politics at all, ever? That there has never in history been scientific misconduct. That there was never any fighting for limited funding. That certain scientists never were in it to make a name for themselves. Please…
