A walk-ability Score For Any Address

This is a NEAT Site… you plug in an address at the top, and you will see a “walk-score” for that area. A little bar will show that address on a scale of worst to best for “walk-ability” (”car-dependant” is on the low zone of course and walker’s paradise on the high side). You can do this for your home, work, any address you wish. Over to the right it will show you the distance to the closest things (like grocery, restaurants, coffee, movie, bars, parks, schools, books, libraries, fitness, etc). The map will show you those items by icon. Rather nice concept.
Even if your address is not a good “walk-ability” area.. you can likely find a nice area near you this way that would be enjoyable for walks.
(We have garden of the gods, Manitou springs, and tons of parks around Colorado springs.. so I love that… ).

(NOTE: please disregard all the nauseating “green” crap ads… I am encouraging enjoying walking and your town not some eco-stuff. )

17/100 still that is your address.. you can find more locations that have some cool walking and such.. it is neat.

My walk score is 35. That’s not so bad.
This service can be rather useful especially for those who are going to buy a house or just want to estimate their present location. I have also tried one more service at http://drivescore.fizber.com/. It is called Drive Score. With the help of it you can see how close establishments are by car. My result is 50. Drive Score calculates your score based on the number of places within a convenient driving distance. The greater the number of businesses nearby the higher the drive score.
