World Court Demands U.S. Halt Executions of Mexicans in Texas:

On Wednesday, the U.N.’s highest court ordered U.S. authorities to do everything in their power to halt the executions of five Mexicans on death row in Texas until their cases are reviewed.

Hmm… That should read:

Or something like that.

The Bush administration has said the World Court does not have jurisdiction in the case.

Hehheh… yeah, finally.  That whole "Sovereign Nation" inconvenience getting in the way I’m sure.

The ruling followed hastily convened hearings last month at which Mexico argued that the United States is defying a 2004 order by the International Court of Justice to review the cases of 51 Mexicans sentenced to death by state courts.

Let me ask the un-askable question:  Why are so many Mexican nationals sentenced to death in the US?  In 2006 there were a total of 3228 people on death row in the US.  So that 51 of them are foreign nationals, well, that’s kind of a higher percentage than you’d think.
