Pwned

in the early morning on Tuesday, the 15th of July 2008 by Capt Jake Fortune

San Francisco is locked out of its computer network.

A disgruntled city computer engineer has virtually commandeered San Francisco’s new multimillion-dollar computer network, altering it to deny access to top administrators even as he sits in jail on $5 million bail, authorities said Monday.

Pretty crazy.  I hope being petty like this is worth the time spent in federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison.

I mean, the guy was making about 150k$ a year.  What a l0ser.

Dude it’s San Francisco. The inmates probably make each other have sex with women as torture.

How did San Francisco city employees know they were locked out of their computer system?

Apparently the normal employees have access, its just the admin accounts are locked out.
And this guy was suspected for a while and they had plenty of notice something was going down. But it was too late.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight; nothing he cares about more than his own personal safety; is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
