Wish Us Luck

at around evening time on Monday, the 30th of June 2008 by Chad

The wife is in the hospital with meningitis. Spent all day in the ER doing the very not fun tests. We find out tomorrow if it is viral or bacterial. Either way she’ll get several days of IV injections and hopefully as many pain meds as she can take.
So blogging here by me will be pretty light this week.

Looks like it is almost definitely viral. Which is the “better” version to get, and also is less contagious.
I went back last night at 10pm to see how she was doing and she looked better. The nurses were all over taking care of her so thats great.
Getting ready to head back over in a few min and see how she’s doing.

That’s good news. Hope she has a quick recovery. Keep us informed.

Yeah, bloggin’ from the hospital room right now. Bad part is, I’m also working from the hospital.
Pretty cool that they have public Wifi from here.

Walking in the building they have a nice sign up saying they are one of the top 50 hospitals in the country.

    Here’s the latest:
She’s getting transferred to the bigger hospital a few more miles away for a few more tests. They’re doing the tests tomorrow then letting her come home.
She has a PICC line (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PICC_line) which will make things so much better, but she’ll be keeping that a few more weeks. Should be able to do antibiotic injections from home just by hooking it up to the PICC line.
All in all, no firm diagnosis yet, because of conflicting test results. Luckily the doctors are intrigued enough that they’re going to keep on it. But she’s so much better and I look forward to having her come home tomorrow.

    I’m baaaccckkkkk..
Thank you allfor your thoughts & wishes.
it has been a fascinating journey. Still recovering.. but doing well. The Picc line freaks poor chad out..but he has been wonderful about it, and helping me.. i am so thankful and lucky to have him!
The diagnosis was never confirmed.. they stuck with bacterial & viral.. though under the billable dx of acute menigitis.
i did great getting through the antibiotics, to kill a good part of it.. the residual swelling in my head, with the coordinating pain, and of course nausea remain.. but those will all pass in time. meanwhile i finish these meds.. wait, rest.. and recover.
but again i thank you all for your care & support!
One question that i was/have beenasked alot.. How did I get it? here is the fun part.. No one knows. There is absolutely no reason why I should have gotten this.. none. So just have a heads up.. even if you think there is NO possible way you could catch something.. don’t count on it..if something does not feel right, get it checked please… get it cured.. get better.
