World’s Worst Poster Child

in the late afternoon on Wednesday, the 13th of February 2008 by Katie

In the news last week was the “tragic” story of a young, teenaged waitress. Poor girl, she worked two jobs, fast food and bar waitress. The headlines read:

Smoky bar triggered fatal asthma attack
First case of secondhand smoke causing an immediate death, study says

Sad. So sad. And she is obviously going to be the rallying cry for anti-smoking advocates everywhere.

So, why am I cruelly mocking her? It is what the headlines fail to mention, but is buried deeper in the article. The girl has had asthma since she was two. It was classified as a severe case of asthma and within the past year she had gone to the ER more than four times for treatment. Plus, despite the fact that she had numerous asthma medications, she failed to regularly take them. And, on the night of her demise, she did not bring her inhaler…

Now, an evil conservative might dare to point out that she failed to take numerous steps that could have saved her life. Than in effect, she is the one that is responsible for her death. One, if you have serious asthma, a smoking bar might not be the ideal working environment (OK, shut up you libs, I have to believe that she could have gotten a job somewhere other than a smoky bar, say some fru fru coffee joint that serves burnt lattes); Two, she could have taken the gosh darn medications that she was prescribed; Three, she could have brought an inhaler for emergencies (isn’t that what they are made for). I could go on, but some anti-smoking nazi is now probably going to try to track me down as if I was a Danish cartoonist….

Well, I’m done ranting now. I’m going to go cry in my beer. Doesn’t anyone else in this country realize that Obama has been voted THE MOST LIBERAL SENATOR in the entire Senate? That he is so lib that he makes Kennedy, Reid, and (egad) Clinton look like conservatives? Yes, I realize I’m completely off topic now…. Matt knew I couldn’t keep politics out of this..

Hehehh… you just have to love this type of stuff. A little personal responsibility would have been nice.

As for Obamamessiah… something I was watching/listening to had the interviewer go out and ask lots of people why they liked Obama. The eyes would glaze over and they’d say “He’s better than Cats. I’d vote for him again and again…”
But when asked about any particular policy, no one had any idea what he actually stood for. The guy has absolutely no history. Almost makes you think he had his whole identity created by the CIA about 6 years ago…

Obama - I heard a similar interview. Glazed eyed people. I had to give them points for one response - he’s not a Clinton. And, gee, it’s hard to argue with that one. But when asked what were his accomplishments - lots of stuttering. He did get commended for voting as a Senator. Not that the person had any clue what Obama was voting for or against. And evidently, the guy gives a great speech (I have to take other’s word for this, I tend to get glazey eyed during speeches).

But you forget, Obama does have a history. He’s smoked pot and used cocaine. (he evidently DID inhale..) And his step dad is a militant islamic. And Obama himself goes to a black power church - one that only swears allegiance to the black people and the black government…. (somehow, I find that much more worrisome than someone else being a Mormon).

My main thing is that I don’t want to vote for anyone who is going to steal my family’s hard earned cash and hand it to some lazy (person) who can’t even get up off the couch and get a job….

I will give Obama this: he is very charismatic. I also agree were screwed with a Democratic congress and a Democratic president. The Republicans are just as bad. Creating a new branch of government as a response to 9/11. Are they not supposed to be for small Federal government? Prescription drug plan etc. They are the lesser of two evils right now, but nothing to be proud of.

  4. Katie Says:

The Republicans were voted out the last session because they richly deserved it. It was as if they challenged themselves to outspend the Democrats and they won. The conservatives then bailed on them (justifiably so) and the liberals voted for the Dems (why vote for a Rep that acts like a Dem if you could just vote for a Dem?)
And the prescription drug plan is just the tip of the iceberg, there was the Katrina relief, there was the McCain Kennedy fiasco (oh, yeah, that was with a dem controlled Congress), and now everyone is jumping on the “bailout the mortgages” bandwagon…
