MXC and the 3706 BMTS

The Drinking Game!
Found this in a google cache for a site that no longer seems to be alive. Since this could be very important, we’ve decided to bring it to everyone here!

The Rules:
Print out this page and chill a generous reserve of your favorite vintage of beer. Keep a bottle of vodka, tequila, or gin nearby (this is just a good idea anytime). Check your local listings and flip on Most Extreme Elimination Challenge on the Spike Network. Kick back, crack a brew, and dig that edge-of-your-seat ass-on-ground action.

Take One Drink When:
The teams are announced. (At this point, pick your favorite team. At the end of the game, take a shot if you’re wrong.)
When Vic Romano, the host, ends a conversation with “Indeeeeeed”.
When someone chest-plants on an object.
Anytime the Captain’s henchmen flops on a contestant.
Whenever someone comes out in short shorts.
Whenever the opposing team scores a point.

Take Two Drinks When:
There’s more than 10 contestants on the screen at any given time during a competition.
Whenever Kenny Blankenship, the co-host, says “Dirty girl”.
When someone ass-plants on an object.
Captain Tenneal says “Get in on!”
Someone face-plants in fluidic space.

Do a Shot When:
Vic Romano, the host, farts.
Kenny Blankenship, the co-host, belches.
Captain Tenneal says “Let’s go!”
When Guy LeDouche sticks his tongue out.
Someone face-plants on an object or the ground.
Whenever someone receives a direct face or head shot from a fast moving projectile.

3706 Basic Military Training SquadronUpdate…
WHOA…
So I’m watching MXC, and I see a contestant wearing a t-shirt with this logo on it.
Now that is freaky, since that is the same basic training unit I was in back in ‘88, the 3706 Basic Military Training Squadron (BMTS).
Now, Takeshi’s Castle was filmed starting in ‘91, so this guy probably went through well after I did, but it is still weird. Something I dealt with 15 years ago comes back now and shows up on a TV show that I love…

  1. dogtulosba (aka other Chad) Says:

I suggested this game last night, but then realized that getting completely tanked on a Sunday night would not be good for work this morning…

  2. Chad Says:

Creepy. He was reading my site at the same time I was on http://www.dogtulosba.com

  3. Tiago Duarte Says:

Hy! Im from Brasil and I was surprised when i saw MXC on tv for the first time, because we had a VERY similar show back in Brasil some 5 years ago (of courso, our show was a copy of the original, but i only found that out when i saw mxc here in america). Our show was called Faustao’s Olimpics (Faustao being the name of the host). It was very fun, and even tough it was featured as a special in another show (called Faustao’s Big Sunday) it was VERY popular. Im thinking about going into bussines back in Brasil featuring some of the chalenges from the show. Any ideas would be apreciated. Bye!

  4. John Says:

You’ve got a great game here but you’ve missed the line that has become the basis for our MXC drinking game.
Whenever Vic Romano says “Right you are” or “Right you are Ken”, take a drink. Most episodes will leave you
    tanked using this rule.

  5. Geen le Douche Says:

Here‚¬â„¢s my idea for a drinking game; take one shot whenever Vic says something that ends with “, Ken” (such as ‚¬Å“right you are, Ken‚¬Â or ‚¬Å“indeed, Ken‚¬Â). Take two shots when Vic hits Kenny with the fan. Take three when someone with the last name Babaganosh comes up. Take four when a person successfully completes a challenge.

  6. Rich Denton Says:

I was in 3706 BMTS in Jan. 1988 (Little Russia) Please contact me. We might have been in the same Flight

  7. Reed Says:

I went throught the 3706 BMTS in ‘89, TSGT Grandberry was my TI. I recognized that patch while doing a search.

MXC is really funny, the only “reality” type show I watch.

  8. Eric Hall Says:

I was in the 3706 BMTS in Nov of 88. I was a PA and only stayed for about 3 weeks and then went straight to Tech School. Any other “Fore Runners” out there? Big “E”

  9. Paul Barrett Says:

Takeshi’s castle was filmed in the late 80’s and ended in the early 90’s so it is very possible that some person could be waring that symbol

  10. Whisky Ed Says:

I was in the US for a month olast year and saw the show on Spike! I love it!
Is it ever going to be released on DVD or is Bittorrent the only way to get hold of it?!
I found this t-shirt whilst doing a search:
    http://www.cafepress.com/shop/humor/browse/Ne-25_pv-spikemxc.20935203_N-1532+15_bt-2

So I’m posting on a thread over a year old - Right you are Ken!

  11. Aprilfool the Hash House Harrier Says:

3706th Lackland AFB Feb of 1990!
Wow, didn’t expect to see that on this site!
The best part was the women from the band flight were next door!

  12. Jim Leavitt Says:

3706 BMTS Jul-Sep 1989, TI’s: SSgt Valle, TSgt Paxton. Great times! Flight 615/616. Let’s see if I remember this right: “06 trainees are blood thirsty, kill crazy, rompin, stompin, Air Force recruits sir, Ooh Rah!” Not bad… Some cool fellows from that time: Andre Wise (dorm chief), Demetrius Richardson, Dom Camelion, Jim Jones, and the list goes on and on…

MSgt Jim Leavitt, NH Air National Guard

  13. Richard Martin Says:

I was an 06′ trainee-I had Tsgt. Lowther/Tsgt. Lake (Hated those guys!)
Flt #332. Seriously one of the most memorable times of my life… Just happened upon this,weird-weird! Anyone else out there???? (Oh how do I get one of the shirts?)

    Richard Martin

  14. Chad Says:

Hmm… I remember Tsgt Lowther and Lake. The names at least. I’m sure they were there the same time I was…

  15. Scott Says:

3706th Feb-Apr 1989. My TI retired when we left. A memorable
yet forgettable time. Some people I wish I could find now, and
some I never hope to meet again. We were on the same floor as
the female Drum & Bugle flight, separated by a locked door with
no windows (darn!). Only remember an airman named Martinez.

  16. Chad Says:

Well, I guess the real question is, did the TI retire BECAUSE of your flight…
    I was in flight 2022 as I remember…

  17. Scott Says:

No, he did his 20… Anyhow, I went to Keesler afterward, and our
squadron didn’t have a name. Some hot chick that was also a rope
decided that since we were marching in puddles all the time, we
would be called the “Ducks” which later those 8 weeks got called
the “Mad Ducks”. But, that was tech school.

Rotten thing about the 06th in basic was that it was away from
the other squadrons, and the Chaparral. Never had time to march
over there to see the women in other squadrons.

  18. Chad Says:

Hehheh… I went to Keesler too. Spent about a year there in Avionics school. Can’t remember the squadron off hand without looking it up, but we were in the very corner by the airman’s club. I was even a green rope there.

I was in the 3706 BMTS in Sept of 83, your Dorm was B2 - I know because it was mine… The Door it was called… we did slip a few mirrors under it to get a glimpse…I was the fourth Squad leader, the first bunk on the left when you left the dayroom… My TIs were Uriegas and Mcintyre.

  20. Aaron Ford Says:

3706 BMTS Squadron Flight 318 May-Jun 92 Dorm A4 TSgt Ferguson Closest to Wilford Hall for a reason…. My brother is currently in 320th Flight 729 (as of Sept 06)

  21. Doug King Says:

I went thru 3706 BMTS, in Jan of 1985………..w Sgt Herrera and the Flight from Hell. If anyone knows where I can procure a 3706 T-Shirt. I would love to have one………pay ya for it!

    Doug King
    aka Gandhi

  22. Doug King Says:

Oh yeah……….Wilford Hall………..the only time you will get good grub during Basic

  23. Scott Says:

Thanks Geoff - Dorm was B2 - wish I could remember the flight number - It would be different
from yours. I’ll look through my old orders

I could have gone in at July of 81, but waited almost 8 years. Thanks to Doug for the name
of one of the TI’s - It was Hererra. He was the one who retired. His last day with us, we
actually got to joke around with him. So different from all the other days in basic.

The girls on the other side of “The Door” were actually invited over to our day room once.
It was toward the end of basic. I think it was just so the TI’s could pick on us. I remember
only a cute short girl named Tina from that flight. Their time in our dorm room could only
be described as “warm and friendly”.

I’ve remembered more names from my flight. Now it’s up to three names: Martinez, Chapman, and
Christoper Payne (or maybe Paine?). Payne went with me to Keesler afterwards. Chapman was one
    bed over from me.

Eighteen years have passed, and even though I hated the place, some of my most striking memories
    are from there.

Hard to imagine it now. Pay phones down at the “courtyard” (off to one side of the drill pads)
are probably gone, and you’re likely now to be getting your cell phone out of the closet for
a half hour (remember the locked closet in the day room?). Heck, who knows what it’s like now.

I don’t remember Wilford Hall. Best grub I had was at Keesler at that “2000″ complex (hah! It was
only 1989, and they were already naming places after the millenium!).

  24. James Lovegrove Says:

3706th BMTS January-February 88 Flt 268, TSgt Gracia, SSgt Osborne were the TI’s. I don’t remember the designation of the dorm I was in but remember it was in the sw corner of the building, “Fall out, west side facing away!” The 3706 designation is no longer used. Today (Aug 07) what was the 3706 is the 323rd TRS, I know this becuase my girlfriends son just graduated from basic and that was his dorm. Freaky to go back and see what has and hasn’t changed.

  25. Chris Harrell Says:

    3706th BMTS/Flt 579/Dorm B-2 June-August 1988 TSgt Forbrich/SSgt Turner

One of the funniest times we had was when I pulled dorm guard duty during Honor Flight Inspection day. We were given strict instructions by TSgt Forbrich not to let ANYONE in…including the instructor, unless accompanied by the inspector. SSgt Turner wanted to get in and I wouldn’t let him. Finally, TSgt Forbrich showed up and we were ALL ordered to the PT pad where SSgt Turner went ballistic! He was yelling and screaming at everyone, then made the comment that “I don’t care what Sergeant Forbrich said. Sergeant Forbrich is NOT GOD!” Then from the back of the flight we hear TSGT Forbrich call out, “BULLSHIT!” Needless to say, military bearing was broken for a few minutes.

  27. winston Says:

    aww what a nice reunion!!

  28. Chad Says:

Yeah, I know. I think we could make this the official 3706 BMTS reunion spot.

  29. Richard Martin Says:

Has anyone found out where I can get the shirt?

    (Note: Message posted in 2005)

    Email:

    richard@shotornot.com

    Thanks!

    Rich-3706 Trainee/1989 Flt.#332

  30. Chad Says:

I had the t-shirt up until about four or five years ago when it just wouldn’t take another washing.
I do still have the patch shown however. I wonder if I can get good artwork made with it..

  31. Lowell Says:

I was in 3706 BMT, Flt. 191 (I think dorm B4?) Dec.88-Feb.89 TI’s where TSgt. Grisham (who happed to be from my hometown, paid dearly for that) and Sgt. Ward. Things I can remember the most are the “snake pit” in the chow hall where the TI’s would try to catch a poor recruit on the way out and drill you! Also, this was the first year the government recognized MLK day, so we had to get tormented over an extra weekend by the TI’s blue rope squad instead of shipping out on Friday Feb. 10.
The best part about Lackland was definitely leaving for Chanute.

  32. SSgt Robert Cox Says:

I was a TI at good ole 3706 BMTS from Jun 1978 through June 1983. Would love to hear from some old trainees all comments welcome good or bad.

  33. Chad Says:

One thing I remember about 3706 BMTS. One of the last days we were there a mixed squadron event of some type was going on. Someone from another squadron was making fun of a 3706 one because they got like 39 demerits on a dorm inspection, and this other squadron only got 2. A TI from a third squadron was listening and asked where each person was from. Upon hearing that the 39 demerits were from 3706, he said that 39 from 3706 was better than 2 from the other squadron, since 3706 was so much harder than the rest of them.

  34. Bob Says:

The multi squadron event was probably a Parade ceremony or a retreat ceremony. I would think that all squadrons were equally as hard as any of the others, But 3706 was the show squadron for all of BMTS. Probably because the Drum and Bugle corps was part of 3706. Maybe because of that others perceived us as being harder that others.

  35. Ssgt Robert Cox Says:

For all of those former lackland BMTS people here is a site with lots of pictures and memories of BMTS.
    http://www.bmtflightphotos.af.mil/

  36. Scott Says:

Maybe it was Gracia who retired from my flight, not Herrera. Regardless, I wish that point in time was held suspended. Just alot of new and exciting things that I actually miss now. The final thing before leaving for duty or tech school was some kind of parade thing. But I also remember the band playing, and alot of food afterward, so who knows. I still have the old USAF blue jacket I got at Lackland, but I never got the patch. I’d love to know if there are still any out there.

  37. Chad Says:

Now, I have my old BMTS flight pic somewhere, so I’m going to see about scanning it in and sending it off to http://www.bmtflightphotos.af.mil/

That’s just a pretty awesome site for everyone.

  38. David Graveman Says:

3706, Flt. 352, 1985 What a great time…..Tsgt Wrobel (?) was my TI….Didnt they have what was called The Snake Pit in the Cafateria? I hated that …..Any body out there that was there during that time? Would love hear from you guys…..Lets see if I remember…George Lofton, David Benfer….

  39. Paul Lanoue Says:

3706, flt ???, oct-dec ‘89, Tsgt Lake stands out to me to this day. I ran into him about 8-9 years after basic at Travis AFB in the base gym shower area. It was mid summer and there was an chem-exercise going on and I was shaving in the mirror, next thing I know he was standing nest to me shaving. I about sh** myself, I remembered him right away but didn’t say anything…must have had flashbacks!!!! GOOD TIMES

  40. Paul Lanoue Says:

Update… Ijust found some old letters and my flight was 032, 3706. Anybody that was there sound off!! I also did a litttle snooping and came across this site http://www.usafmtia.org/Squadron%20Folders/06BMTS.html great pic of all the TI’s including mine, Lake and roldan, in an old west picture. Enjoy!!

  41. Bean Says:

3706 flt 006 Sep- Nov 1989 Tsgt Grandberry…That guy was intimidating as hell. He had made blue rope the next yr. My son just grad from the 326th on memorial day and I went back…looks the same

  42. JJ Says:

3706 BMTS FLT 089 SSgt Dunson/Sgt Hardy. Started basic at mid-Nov 89 and graduated late Dec 89 (after Christmas). It seems strange to be not too far away from retirement yet having basic training flashbacks at this stage. I even saw the link Paul Lanoue posted. Man, I need therapy. Thank goodness for MXC…

  43. Screwtape Says:

3706 BMTS FLT 199 Sgt Barry / Dunson / Hardy. I must have been in the very next class, JJ, because I started In January, 1990 and graduated end of February. I can’t believe it’s been almost 20 years. I remember one of my flightmates got a bad staph infection and almost died, started with a blister on his heel from marching-he didn’t tell anyone until it was too late-the wound up cutting most of his leg off. I think his name was Walls…
Y-O-U-N-G, wanna be a young gun just like me, G-U-N-S, we’re the YOUNG GUNS we’re the best…

  44. Graham Walker Says:

3706 Flt. 458 May 89. Sgt. Ross was my TI and we were his first flight. Also Tsgt. Gracia,Sgt. Mayo and Sgt.Powell all helped out. Sgt. Ross was the best TI out of all of them. If anybody from my old Flight reads the give me a shout out.

  45. Rcky Johnson Says:

Whoa! That’s the same patch from 1986!!! I still have the jacket from basic with the same patch. At that time Flt. 3706 was the Drum and Bugle Corp. I ran into my old TI 4 years at Holloman AFB. Spooky! We’re talking about 17 years later.
