Belgium to impose tax on barbequing to fight global warming
BRUSSELS, April 3 (RIA Novosti) - The government of Belgium’s French-speaking region of Wallonia, which has a population of about 4 million, has approved a tax on barbequing, local media reported.Experts said that between 50 and 100 grams of CO2, a so-called greenhouse gas, is emitted during barbequing. Beginning June 2007, residents of Wallonia will have to pay 20 euros for a grilling session.
The local authorities plan to monitor compliance with the new tax legislation from helicopters, whose thermal sensors will detect burning grills.
Scientists believe CO2 emissions are a major cause of global warming.
OK… lemme see. I bbq, and let a few tens of grams of CO2 into the air. To fight me, they’re going to fly helicopters day and night to catch us scofflaws. Of course these helicopters are fueled with dreams and good intentions, which qualifies as zero emissions.

1) I would first like to know what is Earth’s temperature supposed to be, given that it has always been in a constant state of flux (unless the dinosaurs somehow caused ice ages). Am I somehow supposed to believe that Earth’s real temperature miraculously happened in 1901?
2) You don’t have to look as far as Brussels for ridiculous global warming laws. The United States Congress is now looking into the possibily of banning normal lightbulbs - to be replaced by the stupid corkscrew ones. Despite the fact that the corkscrew ones a) do not provide as much light, b) have mercury in them (imagine millions of those hitting you local landfill and then water supply), and c) are not made in the United States (at all) but are made in China - who power the light bulb factories with coal burning utilities… Remember, China is not bound by the stupid Kyoto treaty…
3) I need to go bbq a steak tonight.
