Why are unions good?

late at night on Friday, the 9th of February 2007 by Chad

Question for the masses.  The whole unions are good or bad debate.  I’d like to hear from a union supporter on why the unions are good overall?

Most importantly, if unions are so good, and produce so much better products, happier workers, better value, etc., why do business owners in general not like union shops?  If I was a business owner looking to open a business somewhere, sell me on why I should have a union shop instead of an open shop.  My concerns go much higher than simply paying employees more and letting them go on strike every year.  I need to be able to compete against competitors with better quality and lower prices.  I need to make a profit.  Get more customers and such.  How will a union help the organization as a whole rather than hurt it?

Unions.. had a point at one time.. but that time has passed.

i do love old things, but there are some things that did their time and we need to go forward and Unions areone of them.

USA automakers need to look at their reliable competition (Honda) and work on making their businesses the same.. the employees need tohave pride in what they do. If they do not.. it shows (the result we see in the disposable, short lived, unreliable history of American Motor companies).

I think America has some neeat ideas, and come up with more imaginative styling.. but if the car has to be repaired often, then it becomes a yard ornament.

This as with all Unions.. is the case.

look at schools, teachers have become complacent and just do not have the love the job they should. these are the future they are teaching in stead they treat their jobs no differently then someone pumping gas. Add the liberal obsession blanking childrens brains in schools.. and we have a wasted society for our future. (Home schooling is becoming more and more popular because of these problems).

so opt for Unions and you opt for empty headed kids, and American cars that just sit and look pretty (since they can not go anywhere).

opt for employees with pride instead and you have reliable vehicles that last.. and kids with creativity, imagination, integrity, and intelligence!

    Gee tough choice huh?
