Welcome Back!

terribly early in the morning on Friday, the 19th of May 2006 by Chad

So I knew I was actually back on the east coast, when after leaving Philly airport in the rental car, I hadn’t gotten 5 miles when I was hit by a budweiser can, thrown out the window of a pickup truck proudly sporting the “Union Carpenter” bumper sticker.  Oh yeah, at around 2pm.

What a life these guys must lead!

And nothing like seeing I95 once again, backed up solid in Delaware at 2:30 in the afternoon.  For no apparent reason…

No apparent reason := Delaware never has enough hands at the toll booths to extract their pound of flesh on the way into MD. Surprisingly, detouring through Newark and taking 896N to 2W into Elkton and then picking 95 back up almost always takes less time than staying on 95.

Oh yeah. I’ve lived right around that exact spot for most of my life. i think I’ve paid the MD tolls there maybe twice when the line was short and I was in a major hurry.
But the worst backups in DE today are at the 95/495/295 merge area, to down past the Rte 1 interchange. And whoever designed Route 1 was on crack. Lets take 3 full lanes, turn it into 1 merge lane into a major interstate that was already way past capacity, and then lets drop a lane on that right afterwards. Sheesh… I’m gonna have to leave around 6AM to catch my 2pm flight outta Philly Intl. It’s completely ridiculous.

Yeah pretty much the entire stretch of 95 in Delaware sucks like a Dyson. It’s been a while since I’ve been through there in rush hour but I know it was terrible when we lived there (and that was a while ago!) so I’ll take your word for it. ;)

Yea I-95 is always a mess in DE and pretty much anywhere else for that matter. We here have a total love/hate relationship with that interstate! lol

We’re both back on the East Coast. Imagine that!
