Thank you Bob Evans!

About 4 months ago, I went off on a RANT about how I get treated whenever I take my family out to dinner at Applebee’s. Well… needless to say, that I’m still mildly boycotting this establishment, and am looking for new places to take my family for a meal. We’ve tried out a few restaurants, but haven’t had much luck in finding someplace welcoming.
HOWEVER… this past weekend, my wife and I decided to take the kids out for breakfast (just to change it up a little). We debated back and forth about where to go… and then the idea of “Bob Evans” dawned upon me. I hadn’t set foot in a Bob Evans in at least 10 years (with the perspective of the single male)… now a decade later, with the eyes of a man who is married with children, I thought it would be beneficial to take another look.
And thank God I did… it was the best dining experience I have had in the past 5 years. Now… keep in mind that this was at 8:00am on a Saturday… so I expected the crowds to be light. So I did keep that in mind… however, I took a good look around and liked what I saw.
- We were greeted and seated immediately upon entering.
- The host who seated us took us to a table that actually accommodated EVERYONE! (Yes… this has been rare lately.)
- Looking about the room, there were several tables arranged to accommodate larger families… brilliant!
- The restaurant was CLEAN! Not just the food prep area… I looked at several tables on the way in, and they were all wiped down and perfectly arranged.
- The kid’s menu had pictures for each item… so my 4 year old daughters could point to what they wanted without Mommy and Daddy having to explain each item to them.
- The waitress was friendly and patient.
- Our meal arrived promptly… and ALL AT ONCE. (I cant’ stand it when parts of the meal show up at different times… and then you have to explain to a 4-year-old why Mommy got her dinner, but she didn’t.)
- The waitress came back to check on our progress, and took an interest in our satisfaction. I never felt the need to hail her down once… not even for the check.
- I never saw the bottom of my coffee cup until I was ready to walk out the door.
- Finally… the food was pretty damn tasty as well. My wife couldn’t make it all the way through her huge omelet. The kids were loving thier pancakes. And me… I had eggs, bacon, home fries, and biscuits with gravy… and I needed a nap soon afterwards.
I’ll be going back to Bob Evans soon.

I haven’t been to Bob Evans in ages! There’s one not far from where we live…maybe I’ll suggest to hubby that we go there sometime soon.

Bob Evans is the happening place for us. We go there so much, it’s really sad. The food-dinner-isn’t all that great, but I love the atmosphere, and coffee. The service is always good too, except for when they dropped the creamer all over us…

To that I must agree… I’d like to find out what kind of coffee Bob Evans serves. I found thier coffee to be very satisfying.
