Idiocy

in the early evening on Saturday, the 18th of February 2006 by Chad

The News Journal has an article about pit bulls.

Because the pit bull death numbers are higher, many people assume that a pit bull is born an aggressor.Kip Grangier begs to differ.

“What’s damning this breed,” Grangier says, “are the irresponsible owners who are raising these animals to fight.”

He owns Tuf 2 Hit Kennels, which breeds, trains and shows pit bulls in Princess Anne, Md., about 20 minutes south of Delmar, Del.

“More or less,” he says, “it’s the owner’s responsibility to train their animals and to associate them with other animals and humans. If you segregate an animal, that animal more than likely will become standoffish.”

Oh yeah.  Some complete jackass, breeding pitbulls, naming his kennel Tuf 2 Hit trying to come out and say its the owners fault.  Its not like he named his kennel cuddle fluffy pups or anything.

Hey Jack nut. Maybe if you looked a little more into the stuff you post you would know that Kip used to play baseball and the name Tuf2hit came from his time being a pitcher-He was “tough to hit”. Obiviously the only jackass here is you.

[...] can that be?  I hear the mantra over and over again from idiotic owners that its the owner and not the dog.  Billie Cantebury said the dogs were his cousin’s [...]

I totally agree with Kip, it IS the owner’s responsibility to bring up the dogs to be socially well-adjusted friendly people-loving dogs! When we bred Pit Bulls (Blue Ice Kennels of MD) all our dogs and puppies got was lots of love, attention, and training! They all got lots of socialization with people and dogs, and turned out to be great dogs! I got 2 of my dogs from Kip, and they were the best pets ever! Blame the owner, NOT the dog! We bred lovers, NOT fighters!

Kip you explain to me why you had to shot one of your dogs after it attacked your father. And Jessica taking up for your brother is what sisters are suppose to do. When a dog has no social life, keep in a cage all their lifes they don’t have to be trained to be aggressive that comes naturally.

What I’ve always found amazing is that people honestly believe that an owner has some sort of magical mental control over animals they own. That the animal can only do exactly what they’re allowed do by that owner. And that any deviation is the owners fault as if the owner’s mind meld abilities were weakened.

Somehow that doesn’t make sense. I don’t think parents have that ability to control their children even when they’re two years old let alone another species. Yes most dogs are pretty obedient. But not totally. So you have to make allowances for the part of the dog that isn’t controllable. Isn’t that why dogs wear collars and leashes? Why homes have fences? Because the owner can’t control every action of the dog?

it is all about the owner gaining knowledge about what kind of dog he is getting knowing about temperments and different bloodlines that fit his purpose of his family or breeding programs i personally brought some dogs from kip he is a good dude but up must understand these temperment and be responsable and take the necc steps in socilizing and training the dogs to be what you want. i love the bloodlines he is running excellent demeners perfect for me. all pitbulls aint for everybody otherwise everyone would have a poodle

The dog you are referring to that had to be put down, Elvis, was actually given to kip. The owner of the dog could not care for it and kept it crated in their house all hours of the day. Kip was trying to almost rehabilitate him. The dog came to TUff2hit aggressive. It ended up getting into a fight with a female. My father who took care of the animals tried - foolishly - to break them up and the dog just turned and snapped on him. It wasnt like the dog was let out and ran and attacked him. Im not saying its right but you offer such one sided opinions. No one really talks about Rottweilers and Presa Canarios who also are responsible for almost a third of dog bites. Chad, Im a little baffled by your use of “magical mental control”, dogs and many animals of less intelligence are able to be trained. Birds, cats, whatever. Its common sense. But people still need to understand that all of these animals are animals. They still have animal instinct and behaviors. I was curious how you knew I was his sister. I bet you’ve been to his house and pretended to be a friend to him and now bashing him when its convenient. I cant talk all day but I understand that I cant change everyones mind and everyone is entitled to their opinion.
