OotS #251, 260, and 262 – Even More Words from Haley

mid-morning on Tuesday, the 3rd of January 2006 by Anarchy

Well… it’s been a while since I did an OotS translation for Haley.  I checked out the latest strip today, and I was inspired to play catch-up.  So… here are the translations for the last three strips in which Haley has appeared.

For those of you who’ve never heard of “The Order of the Stick”… I’m so sorry.  Click this banner immediately!

For the rest of you… here are the translations as I see them.  Remember…  as before, I have listed what Haley said in the strip¦ immediately followed by the translation.

In OotS #251… when the OotS crew decide that enough is enough.

Oze Ktpp ja asf –
You call it the –

Afw xzpd dtod dsf kyjfd!
Ten gold says she cries!

Ofts!
Yeah!

In OotS #260… Haley is quietly working on opening the lock on thier prison cage.  (This one took a while to work out… great fun!)

Ufxm ft rwra, fkmt bfe xfxxa…
Come on baby, open for mommy…

In OotS #262… Haley is STILL hoping to unlock thier cell.

Jpz rezncw gpsi!  Hxj hpd’e jpz pnbd??

    I just translated #264 – at least, I think I did.

    Wait. Listen!

Fqjj mx dow gwrrt! Fqhj! FQGJ!!
Back in the cells! Back! BACK!!

What exactly is the cryptogram/cipher, here? I basically guessed at a couple words, and things fell into place, but it’d be nice to know the “key”, if you will…

  2. John Dalbec Says:

The “key” changes from strip to strip, and we can only infer the letters that actually appear in Haley’s speech. I haven’t figured out whether there’s a pattern to the key changes yet. BTW your transcription of the ciphertext for “back” is wrong. All three instances should be spelled “fqgj”.

  3. Jack Roy Says:

Yeah, I’ve been wondering where the Haley translations were. Good to have ‘em back!

I think Rich Burlew actually said that the key changes were more or less random, and he’s definitely been careless with them in the past (some miscodings, etc.). He (rightly) doesn’t think the code is the centerpiece of his strip.

  4. Brian Says:

Doh…I can’t believe that I typed all three of them wrong. Fat fingers, I guess.

  5. Ailuro Dragon Says:

Can’t find recent translations, so here we go:

Comic: Rst azq’e tqmgowezqm kg, ws hge kg xtwe wzr efze rst’og z couyum lueaf zqd rsto efuyfw hssp cze uq efze zokso.

Translation: You can’t understand me, so let me just say that you’re a frigid bitch and your thighs look fat in that armor.

Commentary: Rich had the word “zqd”, which should probably be written as “zqm” or else it’s impossible to translate and doesn’t make sense. Otherwise, this is pretty basic Haleyspeak.

    Thanks for the translations guys
